Never get chemical services before weaves and sew ins. This weakens the hair. The tension from these styles on weakened hair can cause permanent damage.

And many of these styles are supposed to be protective styles, nothing protective about a style if the braids will break your hair and cause alopecia because they're too too tight. Important to know your own hair because many hair stylist clearly only care about money.

I LIKE YOU! You are so honest, sincere, and caring. STL needs you! You're one of a kind! I'm dealing with similar except for because of my age I noticed that I was thinning in front, so I cut off completely all of my permed hair in 2017. Didn't have enough hair to pinch. So I started wearing wigs, protected my edges with wig bands and hair with wig caps but a year later I noticed a small , dime size spot of missing hair a few years later in my bang area. Now because of this video I have an idea as to what I can do. THANKS A BUNCH!

If she is wearing headbands on a distressed hairline all the time, isn't that going to cause more issues
@antoinettechevalier2453

Bridgette Knox I believe it would depend on the type of material the headband is made of. When I first did my big chop, I was self conscious about my forehead (five head, LOL) so I would wear thin silk headbands at my hairline that tied in the back at the nape of my neck. My silk ties seemed to actually protect/enhance my hair in the covered area - I guess because it stayed moisturized and was sort of like laying baby hairs. I had at least 10 different silk headbands in various colors & prints: It was like a fashion statement for me and also ended up protecting my edges.

I also wear a half wig and tie a silk scarf around the front. I oil my edges daily and doing it this way keeps my edges moisturized. I am finally seeing growth. I have a low hairline, like a 3 head lol. Also the rest of my hair is simi long.

Oooh she got a good husband! It looks beautiful, Crystal. Great Job. I haven't had a sew in since 2009. I started doing my hair after a matted sew in. Now I'm make and install my own hair pieces and I'm moving on to wigs. My trichologists only want me to wear the additional hair once or twice a month. When I was wearing them once a week, the trichologists said it was thinning my hair too much. I'm 40 next year I need all my old lady hair. Lol! I take them off and out every night to reduce tension on my follicles and strands.

There’s a very popular very “showy” stylist who claims to care for her clients with damaged hair...all you see is cut, relaxer, color and a fancy comb over! Those clients will never be able to keep the spots covered with the amount of damage...especially when they don’t have a stylist. they’re being styled by someone on “tour”

Remember ladies nobody forced this lady to keep going back. At the first sign of damage to her hairline she should have STOPPED the sew ins. That was her choice. I would love to put all the blame on the stylist but she is the blame also. Stop it ladies even if you are natural your hairline is fragile and it needs to be treated gently.

I wonder if the other lady at the other salon told this woman how to take care of her hair under those sew-ins especially around her edges

It's good to see hair being fix without it being cut all off, making due with what you have, that's what I like about you

Hi Crystal the older women know how to pin curl the hair!!! Then back in the day they used to do two pins per curl in a criss cross hair style..... I had an Aunt that used the pin curls all her life and could grow shoulder length hair but she had a hair stylist all her life....I have a couple of pictures of her with hair on her shoulders. The same woman who also did one of my cousin's hair, too...
