I think you may have that a bit wrong - in master settings it should be "video" and the advanced output set to auto. Video is the most common way to set up the video monitoring - i.e. the manuals explanation is that Video: This is the correct option to use when using a broadcast display set to the Rec. 709 video standard. Full: If your monitor or projector is capable of displaying “full range” video signals. I have always had my setting to "video" levels and never noticed anything looking wrong. I do agree that if it is set differently in the delivery then there will be a mis-match. Best to generate a smpte chart and export and check the matches.

Yeah good point. My monitor has full colour range so I don't really think about video. But with people using non colour calibrated monitor, video would be best. Thx for the comment

dude THANK YOU. I don't know when I changed that (or maybe it shipped like that but it doesn't seem like its supposed to) but I've just been going into the damn color management and boosting every color by a tiny bit, which was a pain in my ass. Now I've updated all my profiles and can actually just toss stuff in, cut it up, and export without worrying about anything color related.

Good to hear mate. Best to just leave the video level on video. Unless you're doing HDR stuff and leave the export on auto

@@GreenGoatProductions hi ! sorry, i didn't get it . on the video you're saying to leave it on Full, but in this comment you say to leave it on Video ? thanks !

@marcsugier leave it on video, then auto for the export.

when I watch it on QuickTime (MacBook) Player it is the same as bright as in DaVinci, but on my iPhone to dark. when I watch it with VLC player it is same as bright but the skin tones are a lot more reddish

Every player / phone you use will have a different colour science . Unfortunately there's no way around it. The best way to look at it is, if it looks good in resolve then it looks good. You can use a lut for quicktime so that you get a 1-1 with resolve in terms of the grade. You can also use MPV player. It's an excellent and free player.

I've seen you're on Windows, one of the first I've seen, tbh 😂 Everyone else uses a Mac. I was just wondering if you have colour loss as well as darkness issues? As every video I've seen on colour loss -- is for Macs only.

Cheers for the comment. As long as you export properly it should be fine

Thanks, but for me this didn't fix the problem unfortunately. Instead I tried this and it worked... For anyone still having this issue: In Project Settings / Color management try changing your "timeline color space" from "Rec.709 Gamma 2.4" to "Rec.709-A". This should embed the proper Rec.709 color tags so that Quicktime will display accurate colors.

Instead of using quicktime, use a player like VLC. Quicktime puts a Lut on your footage, that's why it looks different to your project in Resolve. When working with clients I always get them to use VLC or frameio.

@@GreenGoatProductions Thanks for the tip. Will keep it in mind. Changing to Rec.709-A did help with QT -- export now looks close to the treated footage in Davinci when played back in QT.

Some players apply a Lut to your footage. I'd suggest try using VLC or mpv for 10bit footage. I have a vid on it. Hopefully that helps.

My settings are already on Video & auto. So now what
@GreenGoatProductions Жыл бұрын
Then you shouldn't be getting dark footage. If you are, try exporting different video settings. Sometimes if you export a 10bit pro res it doesn't match up with your resolve work.
