Brilliant! I followed your instructions to apply to my Dell XPS 17 9730 Windows 11 laptop, but found that the path to follow through the extracted folders and files was already different from how it was when you made this video. The path to follow was also different from how it was described today on Dell's website, so I had to experiment and find my way there. Today is 2 July 2024, and I downloaded and extracted the driver file from Dell's website today. When I got to the Load Drivers step and navigated to the extracted Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Driver-and-Application_8J2F4_WIN64_19.5.1.1040_A02_04 folder on my USB key, this is how I found it presently works: 1. Drill down to folder production\Windows10-x64\15063\Drivers 2. In the Drivers folder, select (single-click) the VMD folder 3. Click the OK button on the box 4. The two drivers were then presented for selection as shown in your video I selected the first driver and continued, and the SSD drive then showed up in all its partitioned glory.

Man, right on the spot, thanks a bunch!!! For anyone who might not see the result, insread of showing just "This Device: XXXXXX" drivers, pick the tab to the left that is for the model and not specific device. Now you'll see "Intel-Rapid-Storage Technology Driver" in the list. Hope this helps someone.

Just bought Xps 13 plus without even booting once I swapped the ssd, after that it was a nightmare couldn’t see the ssd watched youtube videos for 2 hrs. Nothing worked then I landed at this video at the end volah it can detect the ssd now! Thank you so much! ❤️

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You, for posting this video. I was doing a clean Win 11 install on my new Dell desktop which has been sitting in a box unopened for six months (long story). When I got to the 'partition' screen during the install, it told me no drives were found. I thought, "Oh sh*t, did some Amazon seller sell me a computer with no drives . . . and now it's too late to return it?!?!?." After panicking for several minutes, I found your life-saving video. The driver folder and names for my desktop were slightly different than those in your video but close enough that I was able to figure it out. After uploading the drivers, both drives appeared and I was able to complete the installation.

Thank you! I was stuck at one point: I found a driver update (11mB) instead of the driver itself first (16mB), which took me 20 minutes to figure out. It did extract but there was only one directory without VDM in it's name. So, if anyone else found that it didn't work, they might've made the same mistake.

Mate, you have no idea how valuable this video is. I got laid off from a company and they told me I could keep the laptop they gave me for work. They were supposed to wipe the hard drive and reset the PC remotely so I could use it and they could remove all company sensituve data. They deleted the data but the PC would not reset and only boot in recovery mode. I tried for so long to find a solution and gave up after a couple of weeks. FYI, you can do this without 7zip. Open the exe file you downloaded and just choose extract instead of install. Then extract it to your USB drive. You will still be able to load up drivers in the VMD folder.

Great video. I hit this same problem yesterday on a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro. I thought storage drivers were only needed when you were trying to access a raid controller or equivalent setup. Now I know it's not the case. Thanks for this video. I will go back and try it.

ATTENTION For anyone that could not get it working try the other folders when browsing the drivers during the windows installation. You should get a folder that has like 9 drivers. Choose the NVME driver and it works

Awesome.Thanks so much! One thing to note...when searching for your service tag and you search for the drivers, mine had it by default to look for the drivers for THIS COMPUTER. But I'm on a different non dell PC. So when I went to look for folders they were different. So even though you secify the service tag, then you have to select the model of the drivers you want, not this machine option. After I realized that worked like a charm!

Hi Lapfix, i have an HP AIO Desktop PC which has the issue where i'm installing Win 11 but unable to proceed because the storage volumes are not found. I have already went to HP Site for the PC in question and downloaded SP 145303 Intel RST from HP and have extracted files as instructed using 7-Zip.After placing the extracted files in the USB Thumb drive, i opened the extracted files but don't see folder the VMD or f6vmdflpy-x64 folders, not there. This may be a newer version were their placed in a different folder and files??

There can be a bios setting, check if there is something called VMD or RST. Also make sure you are in ACHI and not RAID mode

I'm curious as I have re-installed Windows 10 and only formatted the main partition to start over again but the system still doesn't show the ac adapter on this dell 5520 precision laptop yet that ac adapter is recognized and charges my other 5520 laptop fine and charges fine too so thought this re-install would work but now you're saying to start this driver vs. Microsoft installer for win 10 right so maybe you can clarify that I use the dell driver to install win 10 instead of the one from Microsoft TIA! Hi, so i have an HP and a brand new dell. I installed windows 11 on both having to load the raid drivers on each as you show in your video. Unfortunately after I loaded them got the windows update, had to restart, now neither boots up, they both just sit on the Dell & HP logos never going past that. Any clues as to how i get these laptops to boot up windows, this makes no sense to me, i'm thinking they updated the storage drivers and now won't load and I don't want to keep going through this process each time. Both have M.2 PCIE SSD drives. thanks in advance. happy new year
