My car won't respond to any diagnostics equipment with regards to brake service modes and resetting. Even Peugeot cannot get it to respond. What will happen if I wind the calliper back without being in service mode? Thanks. Liked

It sounds really dumb, but I would check the condition of the 12v battery under the hood. I've chased a lot of these ABS codes only to find the battery is just about dead. It starts the car intermittently and sets a bunch of these low voltage codes. Really confused about all your issues with the car going into accessory mode on and off. Failures like that are usually typical of the BCM failing because the body control module will regulate the ignition relays that cycle the key on power. If your car has an aftermarket alarm on it as well, it may be freaking out due to the low battery voltage. Replace the battery if it's still the original one, most only last about 2-3yrs anyways. If it continues to be an issue I'd be looking at the BCM.

It's called an parking brake actuator. I believe it's only on the rear of the car. Replacement is $45 for a cheap version. Others are hundreds of dollars.

Hi, My EPB on rear left caliper is not engaging and I am going to replace the actuator. I guess I don't need to retract the piston or something like that right? as the parking brake is not activated so can I simply replace the actuator without any retraction and scan tool?

I spilt liquid on my switch think the control module is affected is it going to be a pricey job? Think it’s the cm as handbrake engages if engine is off and key out. Just won’t work if engine is on.

Best option would be to remove the switch first and inspect it the switch may have board issues with cam often be rectified or replace the switch first if problem remains then check the control module this is something you can replace your self to save money but it is time consuming. If giving to a garage the price would depend on the garage as different garages charge different prices.

If nobody know i have KIA K-900 with electric parking brake hung up can't drive. Cure the part cost $1,395.00 at KIA and its called Electric Parking Brake Module what a bunch of bs for auto hold and EPB system. Plus labor any one want to buy a $62,500.00 piece of shit.

I have a 2011 Tiguan with an electronic parking brake. The brake seems to work fine but the indicator lamp in the actual switch doesn’t come on at all. Any ideas to fix? Thanks

you need to test the switch and make sure the switch doesn’t have a fault itself common fault

Hey mate, thanks for the video! I have a similar issue I am trying to diagnose right now, hoping you can help. I have a 2008 Audi S5, and every time I turn the car on, it beeps at me and says "Parking Brake Malfunction". I have, - Checked each motor is actuating correctly. They are (can hear them). - Conducted a continuity test between where the cable plugs into the motor and where the other end plugs into the Parking Brake Control Module in the boot. They work fine. When I scan for the code, I get this. 00473 - Control Module for Elect. Park/Hand Brake (J540) 013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent If I clear the code, it's back within a minute. Stupid question, but if the motor is actuating correctly, could it still be giving off a fault? Or do you have any ideas what it could be? Cheers mate.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch have you removed the motor from the clipper and then checked if it works as I had a issue with a vw Passat where I could hear it working but once removed the motor the noise was there but it had jammed same fault codes came up replaced motor and they worked fine, in the boot of the s5 where the module is please check for any condensation as this can also give the mentioned fault code

Hey mate, Thanks for replying so quickly! I will try pulling the right side off and testing like you suggest. Might be jammed. Interesting point about the condensation where the control module is, because that's the first thing I noticed when I opened up the compartment. It had a lot of condensation build up. Was quite wet.

would this work if the right EPB is sticking, it won’t release…I can trick the system by tripping the auto stop/start and getting it to slide the piston back enough to move if not I’m stuck, literally

Is one side sticking or both sides I would try diagnose the issue before anything really it’s quite hard to diagnose without seeing the car but do try what is shown in the video

i have this beeping, when changed both rear servo motors, seems the wiring may be the problem touched the plug and error kinda gone, drove and 2 days later back again, then shut car off wait again error comes up... strange.

Check the power the plug is giving out maybe it’s shorting out trace the wires as far back as possible to confirm of any rust/snapped wires of all good check the servo is the correct one for you car there are different ones if you fit the wrong one it may malfunction. Hope this helps

Hi, first since the fault is returning did you put on the correct calliper, did you match it with your old one there are spikes on the inside if you bought the one with more spikes or less spikes this could be why the issue is returning.

I see I wouldn't know the garage did this so I would not it happensaybe once a week or two weeks the parking brake button flashes and the light on the dash flashes but does release I have to keep restarting the car till it works

@@nazkhan9353 from the description I would assume the garage has fitted the incorrect calliper I have heard of this before instead of checking the spikes they just go off part number but need to check part number and spikes this can be removed at home yourself or taken back to garage. Where are you based?

If yours is electric parking brake and you can’t get into service mode you need to manually wind it back before pushing the brake piston back the method for this is leave handbrake off and then remove the electronic part from the calliper usually held on by two bolt rewind that back manually I believe it’s counter clock wise (double check that first) then push the brake calliper piston back and assemble back together. Do this on both sides and then cycle your handbrake from inside a few times and you should be good to go hope that helps
