All we use is remodel boxes for island plugs… the wings grab on so damn well

The electrical box anchor screws are structural (i.e. must resist the force of plugging/unplugging) so using stripped/failing screw holes is not ideal. I highly recommend anyone who has this same problem fix the stripped screw holes or use an old work electrical box.

Understand that is a delicate situation and you significantly improved it, but there is still a gap as you can see and hear the outlet cover move when you tap on it.

There are oversize wall plates that could be used.

@@LughnersonThe electrical box is not in plane with the cabinet. A bigger cover plate might lever the box into place, but it is supposed to be decorative not structural. If it works it means the electrical box is not anchored firmly which is required to resist plugging/unplugging forces. Perhaps a plate will work, but it is better to fix the root cause so your outlets stay solid.

Maybe use some glue to further strengthen the box with the cabinet?
