🌀STEPS🌀
1. Section hair to more easily refresh inner layers.
2. Mix the AG Recoil Curl Activator with some water to re-moisturize the hair and provide some slip if you need to detangle some. Avoid laying on too much product when refreshing.
3. To add hold and tame frizz, smooth a bit of the AG Liquid Effects Extra-Firm Styling Lotion over the surface and scrunch.
4. Apply a bit more water to extra frizzy areas and use a brush to redefine those curls.
5. Diffuse for just a minute or so to set your gel cast right away so frizz doesn’t form while it’s drying.
6. Finish off with the AG The Oil to soften the gel cast, seal in moisture, and add shine.

Diffusing even on low heat ruined my hair over time. I noticed it was soooooooooooooo much thinner and wondered what the heck I was doing. Stopped the heat and grew my hair out and it was so much thicker and I didn’t have any more stringy weird ends. I highly recommend diffusing on cool hair! I’m a firm believer some hair types can’t tolerate it.

I tried this today. Worked pretty well. I didn’t have the AG Liquid Effects and AG oil, so I used Curlsmith In-Shower Style Fixer and Curlsmith Bonding Oil. I couldn't brush style to define the curls, though I would have liked to try that. My stylist cut off too much of my hair ( 😢 )so brush styling is not working for me right now. Time to switch haircutters, maybe? 😉

See ... my brain likes to overdo like......EVERYTHING!! So sometimes (who am I kidding... almost EVERY time) I add too much product AND too many products, PERIOD. Bc I don't know how to read the ingredients (like which ones do what) on every product label. 😢😢😢

I hear you 😢. I've started using the "dime size" instead of the usual silver dollar size. I have better results using the dime size on wet hands, and smear it around between my palms. Wet hands or misted hair are a way of diluting the product a bit. That makes it easier to apply. Sectioning, as Gena teaches, helps me get the proper amount in each section. I also use the continuous mister to dampen my hair. I had to force myself 😅 to use one leave-in, one gel. Sometimes, I only need to use the mister and a diluted dollop of leave-in or gel to refresh. I'm finding that using less actually helps because I can recheck in 1/2 hour and then use more or evaluate whether I need to supplement w anything at all. I'm learning that the 1/2 hour to let my curls reset, I don't need to fo anything further, except keep my hands off 😊 and out of my hair. I'm av3c/4a that absorbs humidity like a sponge. Oddball question: Does brush coiling encourage hair to curl if done regularly? (Some people claim that finger coiling does this.) I've just started brush coiling when I style my hair, and it works really well but it is *so* time consuming. Is there any chance that this might "train" certain sections of my hair that don't want to curl as tightly as the rest?

The Shine Gel! However I don't love the thick texture so I usually only use it as a topper. I'll use something more light hold like the Shape Up Aqua, then just scrunch in some of the Shine Gel more lighthanded

No necessarily if you are short on time because washing will take another 10-15 minutes. Also with refreshing your hair is just damp and not soaked down to the roots. Washing would take longer to dry since the hair would be fully soaked.

My hair is part wavy, & part light curls, so I could never brush through it in any way after washing, or it'd separate what curls I have & be frizzy. I use a wide tooth comb to comb through my hair in the shower when rinsing out my conditioner. I never go bk through it. After the shower, I ring it out, & flip over using my fingers to ruffle it out a little at the nape & sides behind ears. Then I only use a hair towel to scrunch it to towel dry. I then will scrunch in a little leave in conditioner, then, so far, the best curling cream I've found ( thats affordable) is the Sha Moisture curl smoothie from Target or Amazon. I scrunch that in all over as well. Then dry w/ finger diffuser, or let dry naturally, occasionally scrunching.
