Hey! So my glasses have been getting weaker since I've had them, when I first got them it took a little bit of effort to close and open them, now if I just hold it the other way they fall closed or open
@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
If it's a spring hinge, they're likely getting close to failure. If it's a fixed hinge odds are it just needs tightened up or MAYBE the leafs of the barrels in the hinge are misaligned (if the screw goes super tight and the temples are still floppy this is the case). I actually just did a video on setting the right tension for hinges last week, so check out my newest video! :D

I could not get this to work but I have a simplier fix that I came up with. Use those little dental rubber bands that people with braces use. Double wrap them around the frame arms and slide them all the way down into the hinge. I had to use 2-3 on some of the arms on my glasses. Took me less than 5 minutes and I just went and fixed all my stretched out eyeglasses!!!! Can't even see the rubber bands! Plus I still have the flex I need.
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
That works in a pinch, little different than most of what I go over in this video, this one is more intended for newer pairs. Aged and stretched is another ball game, check this one out for better help there! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5OXknx5idOIfrM Love the ingnenuity of your fix though! @ThatGlassesGuy034 жыл бұрын
Never too often 😁 lower grade acetate and some nylon blends can get out of adjustment pretty quickly. Until the material begins to feel dried out from the heating and cooling you're totally fine (and this takes many many many years typically). With metal frames this is an amazingly good indicator of a soon coming failure, so good on you for thinking of this!!! 😁

All glasses need bent and fitted to your face. When properly adjusted they will never sit flat on a table. I have a pair of plastic Nike frames that when I tried them on they fit fine but when I got them back with my lenses in them they are really loose now. The ear pieces open up too far and they don't hug against my head. The only way I've fixed it (barely) is to bend the end of the ear piece down and around the back of my head. They are still not right but at least they stay on now. I don't want to bend them anymore than I already have for fear of breaking them. Maybe the hair dryer will work idk. It's more about the actual frame itself being too straight across and not curving around my face but don't want to risk bending that part bc it may break.
@ThatGlassesGuy03 Жыл бұрын
Those frames follow the lens curve, this one is on whoever manufactured your prescription lenses. See it way too often these days, will definitely be an upcoming video. You can bandaid it a little as you’ve already done, but that’s only gonna get you so far.

@@ThatGlassesGuy03 it's all good. Might just get a lanyard to hold them on during times of extreme movement.
@ThatGlassesGuy03 Жыл бұрын
That’ll definitely do it. There are also silicone ear hooks you can get really cheap that will work, but they’re a pain to slide on and not super comfortable IMO (but I also hate cable temples). Unfortunately those Nike frames just don’t give a ton of room for an adjustment or I would recommend that. The lens fit takes a big priority on how finished feel and grip works out.

@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
First of all, cool frame!! Second, yes but it's very different... ill try to do a video soon, ut these should be adjusted so it follows the curvature of the skull instead of down behind the ears :) basically it should huge the shape of the head for its grip vs relying on the ears to prevent forward motion, it's a fine line as too much inwards arc will have the opposite affect and cause it to actually push itself off more 🙂

So my glasses are adjusted and feel great around my ears etc. Over time or when sweating they seem to lift from the ears - one ear more than the other. Can the bend following the skull curvature be to tight and maybe this pushes them up? They are acetate frames. Also, most opticians tell me that the ear bend should be 45 degrees, but I'd say for the least sliding I need around 65 to 70 degree bend which is comfortable as I have a high prescription of -9.0 would you say this is normal? They are ultra thin but I always seem to have to adjust myself after leaving the optician as they refuse to bend more than 45 degrees.
@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
A frame balance that's front heavy can require a deeper bend down or in behind the ears, but as you've noticed too far can lift and make the balance issue worse. It's a tough balance to get right no doubt, but I don't agree that 45 is always correct..correct... just that the 90* bend is ALMOST never correct 🤣

@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
Most likely the bend is made too soon, or arms too tight. The former causes lift throwing the balance off pushing the frame forward. The latter creates effectively a giant spring that resolves itself by pushing off of your face. It's all a delicate balance :) a bad fit overall that doesn't properly sit on the face is a third alternative of course, with no real resolution.

@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
Metal frame with nose pads? Would shift both pads in the opposite direction that you want the frame to go. More often it's a case of one side being too close, especially if it's a plastic frame. In that case most often it's one temple stretched out too far, and that side will be sitting too close. Bringing the stretched side back in resolves this :)

I am an Egyptian optical technician. I can maintain all glasses and of course install them. I can even use a vision detector. I want to travel for work. Is there anyone who can help me?

Build out a website and start advertising! Not sure what your local laws are in terms of licenses and certifications required but here in the states we have many “mobile” opticians offering work for hire

I literally had a broken rubber band tied to each end of my glasses across the back of my head holding my glasses on at work today cause I couldn’t look down without them falling off, so simple fix I really feel like a dummy.
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
I've seen the ole rubber band hack so many times, and yknow what, who cares! It worked while you needed it to, but now you're squared away properly 😁🙌

Paid $400 at lenscrafters, the frames were so tight they were giving me headaches. Then I went back to get them loosened, and they loosened them so much they keep sliding down my nose every two seconds. I wish they just measured it right the first time.
@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
ooph! Some frame/head combinations require finesse, and of course not all adjusters are created equal sadly. Hopefully you can find somehwere with better luck!
