I blocked a color work, sweater body (before sleeves) and when I went to take it off the boards it had a hole in it right in the front up at the height of the armhole bottom. I was just sick. It's a Christmas present. I had to put it in a drawer where I couldn't see it for a couple day until I was ready to deal with it, The thought of ripping it back and re-knitting it was discouraging, so I came on KZbin and found some repair videos. PHEW! I appreciate your step by step so much, thank you. Here goes nothing!!!! 😬😊

My Gosh that is a gorgeous repair. My boss brought in a hat that needed repair. Mine wasn't quite as neat, but it is repaired.

Natalie you are my new hero. Wow what an amazing job. Especially with the amount of work that went into that pattern in the first place. Diane

Wow. I've done duplicate stitch before, plus if I don't have a real-life need for a tutorial it usually doesn't interest me. So imagine my surprise when I found myself completely rapt while watching this video. Well done!

Beautiful job and amazing shawl! So far I only crochet but would like to knit. The reason I haven't learned to knit yet is because I don't know how to repair things in knit. I think I don't entirely understand the anatomy of the knit stitch. Thanks for the encouraging words!

Well done! I have been asked to repair an “heirloom” dress that a grandma wore on her first birthday and wanted her granddaughter to wear(at least during some pictures) and I was a bit afraid to tackle it! I did it, it turned out okay, but now I can think of a couple of other things I’ wish I’d done to make it better! I may ask to borrow the dress again and redo the repair…(they’re family members of mine so I think they won’t mind and that way it can be passed on with my peace of mind!)

I think I'll start a zip-lock bag with some reserve yarn for repairs. That way whenever a hole occurs, the repair yarn will be as old as the project and should blend in well.

The duplicate stitch technique functions kind of like the invisible join in crochet, so this was a lot easier to follow than I was expecting as an experienced!crocheter but baby!knitter

Great job on that repair! That takes a lot of patience and focus. Now I’m all freaked out that my knits are going to spontaneously sprout a hole 😂. Do you think it happened from blocking too aggressively? I’m going to have to be careful about that. Thank you for sharing Natalie!!
