Inherited one of these 06 vtx1300r w 11k miles. I’m a total noob when it comes to motorcycles. So far i had Honda dealership replace fuel lines, oil change, radiator flush and brake fluid flushed. I’ve also replaced the plugs and a new battery and air filter. Soon I’m having the fuel tank resealed and carb rebuilt because my friend who handed this down to me never really rode it & Someone from his Apts cut the fuel line and stole the fuel so there was a time that the tank was empty and has a little rust according to Honda bike dealership. Found a local shop here in Vegas for the resealing and rebuilding the carb hopefully that job doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg 🤞🏽Will probably end up selling her eventually but in the meantime perform some simple maintenance to her like what you’ve done in this video and let her go hopefully make a little profit & sell her by tax season or riding season comes spring time in the meantime she’s at a storage shed slowly getting some tlc 🤙🏽

Thats great that you are getting it back in good shape. They are pretty simple and parts are relatively cheap. Probably less than $200 to rebuild the carb. Not sure what resealing the tank will cost. You can look inside and see how much rust you can see. If there is not much I would just clean it out and run an extra filter in the fuel line. If there is a lot of rust yes you need to seal it.

had got flooded in a rainstorm and we remove the carburetor had the carburetor completely cleaned and rebuilt. We put the car back on and now it’s still not wanting to crank like either it’s getting too much air or not enough turns, and when I tried to start it yesterday, it shot a little spark outside of the carburetor. I’ve spent so much money on this bike. Im broke. She has sat more than driven. HELP

Depends on what "got flooded in a rainstorm" means. If the cylinders actually got water in them during the storm there can be a number of problems. If it died because of water in the electrical system than that is different. Explain what happened.

These bikes, (like most) require, fuel, spark and air. If it's not starting, find out what's not getting to where or whatever's going on and work from there

First you have to figure out if it is a spark problem or a fuel problem. Does it have spark? Will it run on starting fluid?
@BockRottomАй бұрын
@@FireItUpGarage havent tried starting fluid im thinking spark plugs

The first step when getting something running is to figure out if it has spark, compression and fuel. If you can identify which is missing then you have a better start of what to check. Spark is easy to check - get a spark plug tester - something like this: amzn.to/3CTALeI . If you have spark then go to fuel. Remove the air cleaner and shoot a small amount of starting fluid into the carb. Put the cover back on, turn on key/power and turn it over. If it tries to start but then dies you have a fuel problem. Compression and timing can also be an issue - but these are not usually the case unless you have had a catastophic failure or some dummy took it apart before you got to it. If it is dead from sitting around then it is almost always fuel or spark.
