Q: All I see are Storage Test and Memory Test. Which do I choose?
A: Storage and HDD/SSD are the same :) So you would choose Storage Test
Q: What if I cannot locate the options for Legacy, CSM, or UEFI and I have explored all the tabs?

Q: What does it mean 'Hard Drive SMART Check FAILED'
A: If your HDD failed the test, that means your hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced.

Then you will have to install Windows onto the new one.

Q: The diagnostic scan says that my Hard Drive is not installed.
A: If its saying 'uninstalled' or 'unavailable' then the HDD is most likely either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. You can see that done here in this updated video: • How To Fix HP Boot Loo...
After that, try the diagnostic scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see replacements here in the Computer Component List: www.amazon.com...
You would also then need to install an operating system onto the new drive.

Q: Changing settings in BIOS didn't help and everything passed the test?
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not resolve the issue and the diagnostic test passed all components, then its most likely an operating system error. Try to reinstall Windows.

Q: My diagnostic test says 'Unavailable' or I cant run it. What do I do?

If you cant run the test, then we don’t know for sure if the HDD is bad or not. You can proceed a couple different ways. You can assume its good and that the Operating System is the cause of your error. Or you can assume its bad and replace it before installing an Operating System to the new one. I just finished cleaning the insides of my laptop, and before doing that i unplugged the battery, for safety obviously, after i cleaned it i plugged everything back, started the laptop, but it was not booting with a "The CMOS checksum is invalid." error. "Boot device not found" was my problem and it arouse because I connected the battery the wrong way. Enabling legacy mode solved the problem. Thank you a 1000 time!

In my HP laptop, instead of "Hard Drive Check" is Storage Tests, and when I click it takes me to a page where there's 2 options: quick and extensive check (same as the video). But when I click "quick check" nothing happens, it just takes me back to the same page. The memory test worked and passed.

The only thing I'd like to add is for newer HP laptops like mine there's also a known issue of the Intel Optane memory getting corrupted or due to a hardware issue which doesn't allow this bootable USB to recognize the hard drive. Therefore you have to include the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers for the specific laptop within the boot USB so it will see the hard drive during the recovery process. The use of the Rufus utility seemed more effective than HP's own system recovery process so I appreciate you having shared this video.

I can't thank you enough bcs it did work and I am so happy ❤❤. For those of u dat changed it to legacy u have to click f10 which is save changes after dat it will bring an option of pressing esc or 2880+enter and it will reboot again. Thank u so much ❤❤❤

i replaced my battery on my HP and after that i got this issue, i watched your video and the moment you mentioned "Legacy" i almost kick myself, i've should have know that was the issue,since few months ago when i installed windows i got the same issue,enabling "Legacy" fixed that issue back then and now as well...anyway THANK YOU...

Thank you!!! I had the loop for so long now, and sometimes I could get past it by hard drive checking, then exiting, then shutting my laptop down, repeating these steps until i got past it. Now I no longer have to worry about it. Thanks once again!
