How To Factory Reset HP Computer - Restore To Factory Settings

Use this video to show you 2 methods to Factory Reset your HP laptop. The 1st is from the Desktop and the 2nd is for when your computer cannot fully boot up to the Desktop. Q: Will this erase all my data?
A: If you perform the hard reset, yes. You an choose the other option which will not delete all your data but there is still a chance of loosing data you want to save. Best to always back up data first.
Q: It saying 'insert your windows installation or recovery media to continue'
A: If you cannot Factory Reset, you will have to try a new install of Windows.

A: Hitting F11 for the Startup Recovery Options is usually only a step for older computers. Newer computers usually start up too fast to allow access to that. Thanks :) If you have a restore point saved online anywhere, you can use the cloud option. If not, you can use a recovery media. Usually on a USB. If you dont have either option, the reset may not work. You can try soft but often, you would have to do a hard to reset the password. That means you will lose all your DATA though :(

I came to change this guy's hhd and put an ssd. I installed windows on another laptop and removed the ssd and put it into his laptop. Whenever it gets passed the windows logo the screen goes all colored lines. I tried the hhd and it boots to windows. This is confusing. I tried booting from a USB and it does the same thing. My last option here is to wipe the ssd on my pc and put it back into the laptop. Idk why it's doing this. Very strange Also f11 does only freezes on the HP logo and after that it shows the color lines. This does not happen with the hhd...very strange right?

Thank you so much!! Mine is lil bit old laptop hp pavilion dv6. My laptop got the issue saying 3f0..boot device not found and able to restore my laptop by clicking f11 and I installed windows 10. When I am trying to open bios by clicking F10 right after power button on, bios not opening and I just realized F11 is also not working if I need to restore my laptop in future. Is this normal or how can fix this. Your help is much appreciated!!

Ok, so how can I do factory reset if I can’t even get it to the boot screen? My 12 year old was messing with it and now when I hit the power button it goes straight to the “Enter Administrator password or power on password” I have tried F10, F11, escape, and others with no results. The only thing that has changed anything was when I pressed Windows and B after hitting the power button to turn it on. It entered the BIOS update mode, but there were no options to enter recovery mode or anything. It updated and then went to the same password screen. Any ideas?

Why are you trying to factory reset? Are you doing so from inside Windows or from the startup recovery options?

@@PC_Monkey well i’m not too smart so i’ll just explain how it happened and what i’m experiencing, like last month i was playing a game and then it randomly just turned off and when i tried to turn it back on it wasn’t loading and i kept getting “preparing for automatic repair” but nothing would show up so then i followed the steps in this video and it was working up until the part where it says “please wait”, i did components tests on everything and i think i might need a new hard drive or something? i know you probably don’t directly help people out with this but is there any socials i could contact you on directly other than this?
