How to Fix HP printer not printing color after windows 10 update

Like everybody else who commented, I have been trying to figure out how to get my printer to print in color for a long time. It would print on the test page but not for anything else. Not only did you walk through it visually rather than just describe the steps, it was so easy...and IT WORKED. Thank you!!

@@MikeKwal Yeah, it *works* for me - the problem is, it goes back to not printing in color every 60 or so pages, and I have to go through this AGAIN! So disgusted with HP. (I have the 3830, too).

​@@theleastartic Thank you. I checked the stats on that printer and it's known to have these issues because of a legacy driver on your printer. Can you (1) completely remove all printers from your Windows 10 Printer Devices, and then (2) Restart Win10, and (3) Add your HP Printer again - it should be the only one. And let me know after the next 60 pages of printing?

Hey Stephen, how's your day going? Here's 2 options that could work: Option 1 - Can you try printing from another computer? Option 2 - (1) Delete the one printer from your original computer. Restart Windows 10. (2) Add the printer device again, and try printing this time.

I have been trying to figure this out four HOURS!!!!!!! I was literally yelling and screaming out of frustration. It printed color when doing the tests and tools troubleshooting but STILL NOTHING until this video! You are a LIFE SAVER. HP Troubleshooting was UNHELPFUL. I was going to comment saying that this didn't work for me, cause it didn't at first...but then I uninstalled the printer and then did a search for windows updates, and there were 4 updates that were waiting to be installed, so I installed those first, then re-installed the printer like you showed, and FINALLY I can print in color again!!!! You are Seriously AMAZING! 5 Stars!!! I have tried for days to get my printer to print in color. Staples said 'I need to purchase a New printer", mine is fairly new already. I have also looked at one KZbinr, he was going 100 miles an hour that I couldn't even follow along (I consider myself to be a Pretty Smart Person). Hi. I panic when my printer is not printing in color. Cause I need to print some important docu but upon thorough checking, the problem was not in my printer. And I know it’s in the docu itself. Upon browsing here, I came to your video. And surprisingly, it worked!! Thanks a lot! 😊

I have used this fix before as to why I could not print in color, but had forgotten how simple is was. By removing your printer from the settings list and then adding the same printer back eliminated my problem. Easy to follow instructions and very simple to fix your problem.

Wow! Surely there are other people out there who can identify with me. I'm 84 and barely competent when it comes to solving problems such as this. My wife and I have been very frugal through the years. That's why we have a nice home paid for and two nice vehicles. Since the cost of HP color cartridges seems to me to be so inflated and against my spending habits, when color printing disappeared on us I just said "To hell with it". But now around the Holidays, I've wanted to print a few things to send to friends and family. Furthermore, my computer "expert"who is our 35-year-old son has moved 1,150 miles away. He used to live 5 miles away until a couple of months ago. Dad can't be lazy anymore! Your tutorial is terrific and saved me so much grief. And - I haven't had to bother my son who I'm sure would have helped me so you've done him a great favor too! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. P.S. As a retired geosciences professor I can tell you with confidence - you were meant to be a teacher.
