This is happening on my brand new PS5 Slim, tried everything, seems to fix for sometime then it disconnects again, my ethernet cable worked for years on my PC, anyway, saw a guy saying that a Cat 8 ethernet cable would fix this because it’s better built and seats better on the PS5 port, it’s arriving today so I will see if it works for me or not. EDIT: The Cable worked, no more problems.

I find allot of issues are fixed by doing a settings reset. Give it a try.

@@BATTLEDUTY-Xlike I said i’ve tried everything, even messed with router settings like opening doors, like it could be a PS Network error or something. The new cable is my last hope, if it doesn’t work i’m activating the warrantly.

@whitezzpt How about a factory console reset? Have you tried that yet? I've mentioned allot of things in my description and in comments have a look through see if there is anything you haven't tried. If not good luck with it. CAT 6 is good enough the kind of cable only changes the speed of the network and in most cases not the quality although you can buy better quality brands so unless your cable is damaged or not plugged in correctly and it's cat 6 and it wouldn't make a differance. Try any have nothing to lose.

@@BATTLEDUTY-X well im getting the cable, if it doesn’t work i will see your description. Btw the cable i’m using it’s a Cat 6 and works fine on my PC, it never disconnects. The problem is either software or the ethernet port Sony uses doesn’t meet the standards since there’s so many people having this problem.

@whitezzpt This is a known Sony software issue apparently. But it can also be the cable. Try the cable if it don't fix it try console reset which is baslicly like brand new PS5 if that don't work it could be a Hardware on your port from the router or sony or maybe an issue in the Sony software from their updates. For me it was a database issue but I still wasted satisfied with that so I just did a full console reset and haven't had the issue since.

Ive tried countless videos im practically beging on a miracle here i bought a new lan because i never thought a problem like this one would even happen i hope this works

Yes it could be a number of things including a damaged ethernet cable or the swtich router reset or DNS or simply changing ports on router. It's either a hardware or software issue. This video is about software only so it worth a try.

@Jack-og4lu If nothing has worked that ive mentioned in comments, video and description then last thing you can do is a "Reset your console". Then update it. This means you'll have to delete everything from your ps5 and start again like brand new ps5. You'll have to login to your accounts again and all games and settings. Go system > system software > reset options > reset your console

@samuelyanke1150 Yeah just take it back mate let them deal with it. I'm sure they can fix it for you. If the goods or service does not meet a consumer guarantee (e.g. where goods are not of acceptable quality), you the customer has the right to ask for a refund, replacement or repair. That is in Australia.

Trial and error this is only software related. This video needs updating. If you still have issues turn your switch or modem/router off and change the ethernet port to another one. Should resolve any issues.

@@BATTLEDUTY-XThis doesn't happen on Xbox series s for me so I knew it was software and not the lan cable. Wish PlayStation would fix this tho

@DaltonYT Just follow the video and it should fix it. If not play with your switch/plugs and also try doing a manual internet setup in the Sony network setting and changing your DNS from automatic to manual put first DNS as 8.8.8.8 (Google) and second as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare)

Make sure you've clicked it right into the socket or change your LAN cable.

When I plug my cable in all it says is up to 10 networks can be registered

I've never heard of this issue before but sounds like your router has a DHCP IP configuration limit tp only allow ten devices on the network. You need to increase your DHCP IP to a larger number it might be 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.10 see how the first IP last number is 1 while the second IP last number is 10 its from 1 to 10 meaning you've allowed 10 devices on your network. Increase that number from 10 to 11 to allow 1 more device or increase to 30 to allow 20 more devices. Hope that helps.

Or you may need to go to forget your network or delete other wifi networks that you've connected to on your sony. Then try connect to your wifi again

Hi I have the problem where when I put my LAN cable into my PS5 and then when I try to connect it it says cannot obtain an IP address within the time limit. However sometimes when it does connect even if I nudge the cable a bit or it moves itself it just disconnects the connection altogether as well . Please let me know if you have any solutions to these problems. Many thanks

I'm not 100% sure but it might be your lease time is very low. If you go to your DHCP in router look for IP lease time. Change the number to highest you can so it don't kick you off the network.

As for the cable nudging and disconnecting. I'd get an high quality L shape ethernet cable they stay in better. Also you should avoid nudging the cable maybe use WIFI instead.

My ps5 gathered dust for months as i stopped playing games and when ive gone back on it my ethernet port is broken it seems as no fix works it doesn't pick up the ethernet as plugged in

Did you try blowing the dust out of the port? Or giving the playstation an air blast. 🙄 Dust is no friend to electricals

How do i update the update system software without the internet??

You need interent unless there is a way to download file from sony website and install via usb and you have done so before not having internet. You need internet. If you can't update it just try reset your settings or format completely reset the PS5. Watch my advanced fix video you can see pin in comment section of this video. There are allot of reason why this happens.

@CUNICULUSTV See pinned comment at the top. Follow the link that video might help. Also make sure your router is using IPv4 and not IPv6. If it's only an IPv6 network it won't work.
