Excellent video!! This method did not work for me, which is either suggesting I did something wrong or there's another problem somewhere in my system. However, that does not change the fact that this video clearly shows the problem and the method of repair. Good job!

I went to Home Depot to buy a new cartridge as I thought these were standard. The guy said : you need to bring in the old one to match the correct one. I was not sure how to remove the cartridge and searched youtube and found this useful video. I have the exact same faucet as shown in this video and followed the steps. Worked great. Thanks for the advice.

This is probably a stupid question,but is it necessary to change the cold water side too? 7:15
@homegrowncountryhomeplace Жыл бұрын
You can change one side at a time. Now if your not sure which side is leaking, than you could do both. Turn each close off valve under cabinet off one at a time to see which one stops the leak. Hope this helps. Have a Blessed Day Friend. Justin

Absolutely awesome! I looked through several videos that were NOT helpful before I found you. Your's is the BEST! Informative and straightforward. I'm the mom who is also the handyman around here and you saved me money I need to use on these "cheap" groceries we have during this pandemic! I wish I'd had you doing a dryer video about 2 months ago! I finally got it all fixed, but the drum is as tall as me, and replacing the rollers and large and small belts almost did me in! Bless you for your help! Take care.🙂

The key is to use Moen brand cartridges. I had to reinstall the old ones because the new Danco brand leaked. So after 2 hours of screwing around with them, I cleaned the old Moens, applied plumbers grease to the O-rings, and 10 minutes later, leak gone. I despise plumbing.
@imagesinla85753 жыл бұрын
Well, this didn't work for me, but then again my cartridge had been sitting in there for a lot longer than yours. How do I know? I wasn't able to get the cartridge to pull out. I had to go underneath the sink, and push the cartridge up by hitting a flat head screw driver with the back of my crescent wrench. I ended up replacing both cartridges for $15 each from Home Depot, and the leak has stopped. Great video, and it helped me a lot even though the washer trick didn't work in my case.

Worked like a charm. My only other suggestion is to note that pulling the cartridge out too more effort than trying to separate with a thin bladed screwdriver. My guess is the minerals in the water caused the extra difficulty I experienced that was finally remedied with a little muscle and a pair of channel locks pulling the cartridge straight out with it. Great vid.
@homegrowncountryhomeplace5 жыл бұрын
I agree. Sometime they are stuck and channel locks are required. Have a Blessed Day Friend!

I found the easiest way to remove the cartridge is to screw back in the screw that holds in the handle and use pliers to pull it out by the screw head.
@Darkoshi4 жыл бұрын
@@JoseMartinez-fm1fe Thanks Jose, that was a great idea. I was able to get mine out that way, by clamping pliers to the screw and then using leverage on it. I didn't want to damage the cartridge in case I end up re-using it.

I have a similar problem with my bathroom sink, the water leaks from the faucet as well as the hot water tap itself. I tried to unscrew the capsule but it's stuck tight and won't budge, what would you suggest I do. My cold water tap stopped releasing water a while back and I don't know where the the water is going. Helllp!?!?

What if the water is still leaking after following these steps? The water is cold, that is dripping, so I did the cold water side ( thank you for this awesome video, was so easy to follow ) 😎🤙👊 could the stem be causing this??? 🧐🤔

I would probably just go and buy a new stem. This should fix it! Thanks for watching and have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

My channel locks don't work nor does my lock vice grip. They both slip off and there appears to be a build up of calcium and copper oxidation around the cartridge.
@homegrowncountryhomeplace5 жыл бұрын
Try some baking soda and lemon juice or some sort of wd-40,liquid wrench etc, to see if it will remove the oxidation.
