Be careful loosening all the bolts too much, especially if you are going to ride it to test before tightening. You could easily end up with the yokes/triple clamps dropping down the forks and jamming the wheel against the frame or engine.

Your are absolutely right. Usually if you only loose the bolts half a turn like i suggest you should be alright. But i should have warned people about that :/ I rushed this video a little bit :( Thank you for your input. I will pin this comment ;)

Thanks for this video. I went for a ride this morning and found lots of sand, I ended up dropping my T7 at one point and found that the alignment went out. I remembered this video and used it to straighten my alignment in the middle of no where. It wasn't perfect but was 90% better than what they where, and was able to keep riding. Thank you!

That happened to me twice. Both times i put the wheel between my legs, move the handlebars and everything (i thought )was straight. After that every time i loosen my hands from the handlebars, when driving, the byke started to pull right or left. One gets used to it in a couple of rides hahahaha...cheers!!

Watching from the Philippines and I will try this. I had a kid/student run into me yesterday and misalignment is one of the issues.

Holding the front brake and pushing down the suspension a few times after losen the bolts also helps solving the problem. /João

Thanks for the handy tip! Here's a thought/tip re the way I do it. After tapping it straight/realigning it against a rock/doorway etc, I tighten all 8 about halfway - so that the forks don't unexpectedly pop through the yolks at the top, on a test run. If/when happy with the alignment, I tighten all the bolts as you described.

Can’t wait for November my friend! I had this happen on my 701 after a fall, but everything seemed straight except the handlebars and the wheel - It was the handlebar clamps that had twisted slightly.

This is a great video thank you for sharing, in case you are not using a hard object to lean against is it possible to also use a friend to hold the front of the wheel down while you turn the steering wheel in the opposite direct so that you can adjust?

Could you put out a video about rear wheel / chain alignment; as well. I put a 300mm steel rule flat against the rear sprocket face and adjust the rear wheel position to the point where the chain is exactly aligned with the edge of the steel rule. Seems to work. Also, love your channel !

Oh, i already see it ending in tear for someone! Loosen up only bottom clamp bolts, adjust as needed and tighen back up before testing - as if fork stancions will go through the top - rider will be even in a bigger problem then just a bit twisted handlbar. (And even that should be just as a emergency / temp fix, as thats not the correct procedure to reset twisted steering)
@OFFroadOFFcourse2 жыл бұрын
You are right! And thats why I recommend only loosening the bolts half a turn. Its usually enough to keep the forks where they should be, even if you ride the bike (carefully, of course). Either way, another viewwer already pointed out that you should be careful doing this, and I pinned his comment up top for everyone to see. It was just a quick tip video, Its not a mechanic masterclass :D Thanks for commenting!

Are you talking about the lower clamp screw on the wheel spindle? Or just the bottom screws of the middle clamp? Cbr600 has a slight bend, I will try to fix it. I'm a little new, I'd be glad if you could help me.

How do you loosen all triple clamp bolts without the fork sliding up? I usually loosen upper triple and axle pinch bolts, then brace the wheel between my knees. ✌🏻
@OFFroadOFFcourse2 жыл бұрын
And you are not wrong!...Thats why i recommend only loosening them half a turn. They wont slide down just like that... Usually 😅 To be honest, most times i dont even bother anything at all, just sit the wheel against a tree and turn the handlebar... But i dont think that is the most correct of ways.

Like 22:30, I’m heading home, a deer hits me, and we slide off into a ditch and the deer runs off. I get out of the ditch and drive home with only a bit of deer blood on my bike and the forks misaligned. After this video, I’m most upset about my jeans getting ripped That A to B was barely 5 minutes, ALWAYS wear gear

Dr350 in 2022. Is it a good bike Vs something like a crf?
@OFFroadOFFcourse2 жыл бұрын
Performance wise, yes. Its perhaps better (more power, bigger and fully adjustable suspensions, 20kg less), but of course its not as polished (heavier clutch, carburettor, etc). Note: my dr is the SE version (electric start), and it has 6 gears, and so it is surprisingly smooth on the road (about the same cruise speed as the crf) I have both bikes (1x crf300 and 3x dr350se) so my opinion is not just theory (still just an opinion though)

You said ride the bike when all triple clamp bolts are loose! That is insane. Never do that. Tighten first, then ride, and if you need to realign more, start again by loosening. In fact, you only really need to loosen the lower clamp to align the forks, and it’s better if you loosen the wheel bolt. But never ride with all clamp bolts loose! Please correct your advice….
@OFFroadOFFcourse2 жыл бұрын
I do appreciate the comment, but i dont mean completely loose, man! :P the screws are supposed to be only half a turn out. I explain that in the video. And by riding around i dont mean 80km/h on woops... Its just 10m to see if the bike feels straight or not. But i will try to edit that portion out...a lot of people are assuming the worst xD
