I used a blow dryer in the past to the bangs of one of my synthetic wigs, just on the bangs and it shrunk like a shrinky dink, lol! I was so mad being I had just gotten this wig and tore off the tabs and threw it out before I could read if it was heat safe! It was a pretty wig too! Anyways, thx 4 sharing! P.S. to answer your question. I started losing my hair when I was 19 went from doctor to doctor and never really knew the reason and just labeled me as having alopecia now at 52 I wear full wigs real and synthetic.

Late answer here. I am new-ish to be wigs. Lymphoma patient and I lost my hair due to chemo. I’m in “remission” at the moment, so I have a lot of fun with my wigs and head wraps. Now that it’s getting cooler here I’m able to wear the wigs more. Found you through Emo Wigs For Everyone Facebook group. More than you wanted to know I’m sure! 😁

OMG thank you!!! I have an Amazon wig with a ton of permateasing on the curtain bangs and I couldn't wear it and didn't know what to do with it. I did a strand test and it was heat safe so I went for it. Now I need to be brave enough to cut the bangs lol. Wish me luck 🤞

I wonder if it's the same wig I have - a mid length bob with LOADS of permatese and a (too) long side bang. There is so much permatease that the bangs won't go one way or the other. Otherwise, it's a nice wig but right now, unwearable. I'll try this method and hopefully tame the thing.

I started wearing wigs 2 years ago at 59 when my hair started thinning for an unknown reason. Initially, I wanted to try toppers, but they were too expensive, so I bought a couple of wigs. I have not looked back! My bio hair is completely gray and frizzy. I'm not a big fan of permatease so I will try your tips!

A hot straighter is better. Or an actual iron. You have to LITERALLY press it AT THE ROOT so what I do is comb it, like you did-get a bath towel and stuff it inside the wig and then press the roots of the wig between an iron and towel. Heres the most important part about shaping synthetic hair- once you iron/flatten that permatease HOLD IT FLAT while it cools. Once it cools in that shape it wont move

Thank you, Jesse. I recently purchased a wig with really thick bangs and the permatease in it is way too much. It is just a regular synthetic wig by Rene of Paris. I like the style, but can't stand how the permatease shows up at the top of the bangs. Do you think the hot brush made for synthetic hair would work using the method you showed in this video? As for the reason I have recently begun to wear wigs is that I am experiencing alopecia which began happening slowly (at first) a little over 3 years ago. I am almost 73 so I suppose it's my age.....So sad because I was blessed with beautiful hair. Oh, well, than goodness for wigs!!! :)
@JesseMSimons3 жыл бұрын
As long as your wig is heat resistant yes you can use a hot comb to get the permatease out of the wig.

This was super helpful! Do you happen to have a video on how to make the scalp part on a wig with bangs look more natural?
@JesseMSimons Жыл бұрын
I don’t but I will add it to the list. Definitely a great question. You can pluck the pet some if it has a rubberized scalp area or if you need to adjust the scalp shade you can use a flesh colored sharpie.

If you are doing this to a non heat resistant synthetic wig would using a steamer achieve the same result as using the hot airbrush or comb?

Do you/can you thin the bangs as well? If so would it be a weft removal situation or thinning shears situation?
@JesseMSimons3 жыл бұрын
I would take thinning sheers to them that would help thin them out pretty easily. I don’t like to try and deconstruct that bangs to much if I can help it because a lot of times you don’t know what your working with construction wise until you get in there and bangs can be tricky depending on how they see them in.

@JesseMSimons3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had the hair break off like that usually the permatease is still the same length hair just back combed to give it that look and volume. I’m not to sure why it did that for you.
