After upgrading to Windows 10, every time I wanted to print, OneNote kept coming up as my printing default which drove me crazy!!! My regular printer wasn't even an printing option anymore, so I couldn't set it as my default because it was non-existing as a printing device on my computer. The weird thing is that my scanner worked but my computer only recognized it as a scanner and not as a printer which was so weird, so again, it didn't give me the option to set it as my default printer. The only printing options available were "OneNote" options!!! Anyhoot, after a couple of hours of searchi ng how to fix the problem, I was finally able to fix the problem!!! Here's how: I went to "Device Manager" on my computer (just type device manager on your search bar and it will show up), then I went into where it says "print queues", i saw my device listed there and so i right clicked ontop of my device and selected "update driver", then I chose the first option which was for my computer to do the update automatically, gave permission for the update to take place, and vuala!!!! Problem fixed!!!! I wanted to tell the whole world that I can print now!!!! yayyyy!!!! :)))) ...so instead i came here to share my experience :) I hope that this will help someone. Windows update had turned off the default printer setting, strange how I was able to still print ok but not scan, That had been greyed out in MS Paint but no is operational, Thanks Brian.

Thanks so much for this. I had to repeat a couple of times before it actually worked. Maybe I didn't remove all the old stuff the first time around. I was so exasperated by this update-induced problem that I had to have a break before I did something rash - came back it was all working- I have an old Epson Sx535WD and the install of the new drivers took a while. Also, on the Printer server screen, it wouldn't delete the old stuff the first time around but once I deleted everything related to Epson. it worked.

After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro, my very old (which has been working great for years) HP Officejet G85 All-In-One doesn't even appear anymore as the default printer device when using Microsoft Word. When I open up "Devices and Printers"...my OfficetJet G85 icon is not listed under the category of Printers anymore. The printer icon is now listed under the category of "Unspecified" with a yellow triangle and a black exclamation within it. This printer is connected to the computer via USB. When I bring up the "Device Manager" and expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers->USB Printing Support , the USB Printer Support has a similar triangle & exclamation. On the HP Website, the only option is to "Installing Your Printer Driver Using the Windows Built-in Solution". The HP printer is too old to have an HP Software & Driver package. As I recall, there was no such combination package even in Windows 7 and I had to use the Microsoft Windows Built-In Solution as well. In any case, my question is that the HP Website does not indicate that you must REMOVE the old printer device and drivers (like in your video). It simply indicate to use the "Add a Printer" wizard in Control Panel->Devices and Printers. So, what do I really need to delete all those shown in this video?

Wondered why my Canon Printer stopped working. Updated W10 the other day, then yesterday when i went to use the printer, it kept saying it can't find my printer. In the end i reinstalled the drivers using the install disc that it came with. Thanks for this!

I have an odd Brother printer/scanner issue. The scanner functions, but the printer stopped after an update for Edge browser a day or so ago. I did use the Bro. uninstall tool, but didn't go into the XPS driver to remove printer history there because for some reason, the MS xps/others aren't in the devices & printers, it's empty? Additionally, I ran DISM/restore health + sfc + chkdsk and everything was either okay or repaired successfully. I tried uninstalling all USB ports and restarting, tried plugging to different USB ports, downloaded new software...basically everything I could think. If it weren't new inks, I'd toss it. Now what?

My error is after upgrading to windows 10, it prints on the admin account but not my personal account. I also gave my personal account admin access to print but it still doesnt print. It goes in the queue and disappears like its already printed. It also says spooling for a quick second as well. I stopped the spooling and started spooling again but to no avail.

I have a new laptop with Windows 10. I can connect and print with my HP Envy 5540 series but it won't give me the option to print in color. My old laptop that didn't have Windows 10 would give me the option color or black and white. I've tried installing the full driver and that hasn't helped. At no time did it require me to select which OS I had. I think perhaps my old HP Envy 5540 series is just too old? I really miss being able to print in color. Any suggestions? I'm ready to cave and buy a new printer.

Maybe you could do an upload with regards to a problem I am having. I have no password for my PC...microsoft or personal. I do not have password from sleep turned on. regardless of a restart / fresh boot /sleep....I always get the sign in screen...I have to just click on sign in and away we go. So many problems with Windows 10 updates and upgrades. I can't get Steam to work in Windows 10 no matter what I do after upgrading to the latest build of Windows 10. I have tried every solution found online over several months but no luck. Windows 10 is total junk and not fit for purpose. I only have Windows 10 to play games, and it can't even do that if I cant use Steam. I have had to resort to using my old lower spec gaming PC with Windows 7 on it to play my Steam games.
