I have had the same controller for 6 years now, I refuse to buy a new one for the small problem of its right stick that jumps UP, it doesnt sway to one side or the other it randomly just makes my character look straight up, and it happens randomly, controlling recoil has never been harder, any fix?

I don’t have stick drift it’s more like a bug, no matter what controller I use whenever you slightly touch the right stick it starts twitching to the left. Also it doesn’t do it all the time but when it does it it’s literally unplayable and so frustrating I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, recalibrated the controller and still nothing. Any idea what it could possibly be

@@ChupacabraTutorials no cuz it works perfectly fine when i connect my controller by USB but when I use the ds4 app it acts like that when realistically the analog sticks are fine, I also noticed that it's doing the same thing when I tried my mouse, the cursor keeps going to the side of my screen and the analog sticks doing the same thing only it's not visible like the cursor is.

These settings are saved to your computer. If your having this issue on the console thats a whole different set of settings. often inside individual games.

In the profiles. Where you can setup different keybindings. Select the one your using and edit it. You can then click on any of the buttons in the picture, and either bind it to something else, or completely disable it if you want.

That sounds more of a bug with tabbing out with whatever game/settings you play and use. Not much I can suggest to fix that. When I have similar problems in Outer Wilds I end up just restarting the game.

Same on COD Cold War. It doesn't do it all the time just once in awhile enough to piss you off. I don't think it's stick drift because i have 2 PS4 controllers and they both do it. The first one i bought about 3 weeks ago. I went to gamestop and the guy there said i guarantee it's stick drift. I said how do i prevent it and he said it's basically just a bad controller luck of the lottery. So i bought another one. The second day with brand new controller, same thing so i'm calling B.S. on stick drift being the problem. I think it's a bluetooth issue with windows but i haven't completely narrowed it down yet. I also bought a bluetooth adapter and disabled my onboard PC bluetooth and it does it with the adapater as well so it's not the bluetooth itself. My next step is using a usb cable plugged in but i'm waiting on a longer cable. If that doesn't work then i'm buying a ps5 controller because i had no issues with my old one before it broke. I bought the PS4 controller because i like the feel of them better over PS5. PS5 controllers feel fat to me i like the slim feel of the DS4 and the bumper and trigger buttons aren't as squishy as PS5. But if it's too old of technology to work on windows 10 them i'm out. Back to a PS5 controller i guess and i'll have to get used to it.

There are guides on how to do like physical repair on your joysticks that include things like blowing the dust out of them. I can't vouch for any of them since I've never had to do that

I have a question.. just switched from ps5 to PC, and I have never had an issue with my AIM controller, no stock drift or anything. Since switching to PC my right stick seems to have a mind of its own and constantly gets me killed because it does whatever it wants all the time. Any idea why ds4 windows chose me as its victim?

Dead zone?? You are fixing stick drift with dead zone? What about if the output is not dancing all around but it is just up a bit from centre? What about an offset or recalibrate of centre position? Surely this is the better way to correct for stick drift?

Is the deadzone settings on ds4 equivalent to the warzone deadzone settings ? I like 0,0 deadzone in mw but I get drift so I’m inc dead on ds4 in hops that I can play the lowest deadzone

No if you need to tweak the deadzone on console you do that through the games control settings. I believe theirs also a system setting that does it too.

My ps4 controller has an issue that I don't believe is bc of dirft but I couldn't find anyone else with this problem. Basically, whenever I push left on my controller it goes completely to the right (basically, the axis is inverted) but when I push left it works correctly. Also inside the DS4 app it works well, but in anything else, it just work like I explained. Any help?

Sometimes the anti deadzone thing can ruin your sticks with false stick drift in games like fortnite

It's not a perfect fix but for most games that have stick drift correction built into them in the settings. It's just a matter of trial and error till you find some settings that help fix the problem. The only proper solution is to just get a different controller that doesn't have stick drift in the long term

Old joysticks are mechanical. They just wear out and get gunked up from use. You can clean them but eventually they just get old

All of these settings are saved on your PC, so your PS4 controller will work like normal on any other device. Just note that if you pair it with Bluetooth you might have to hard reset it in order to pair it with your PS4 again.

My right joystick isn't just dancing around the center, it just fully points towards the right without me touching it. I can't make a deadzone that big. Does anyone know what the cause could be and how I would be able to fix it?

Drift happens when either a) The Mechanical Components inside a joystick get damaged or worn out. or b) get gunked up and dirty. If you want to try and manually fix that. You can look up some guides that can give more info. But you can clean the joystick. Both with rubbing alcohol, and also spray a can of PC Cleaner Air under the joystick where the sensor is. Could be its just got some dust or grit jammed into it. After attempting a manual fix/clean, if its still not working you may be screwed and need to purchase a new controller. When buying a replacement, look for a manufacturer that makes an official version of whatever brand you are buying. Pay specially attention to if they provide Hall Effect Joysticks/sensors in the controller. As these use magnets to avoid the issues with stick drift.

I think this has something to do with the amount of rumble pads inside the controler it starts to throw the stick off along with just general use but ever since we've been getting more next gen with ps4 xbox one and further the companies keep adding more immersive rumble features that in intently ruined the controls faster ive gone threw 3 ps5 controllers on my 4th now want to upgrade and get a scuff but I just don't trust that it wont eventually go and that's $350+ out the window

Really useful, thank you. And i also subscribed. I have a problem while playing GTA. I can't do burnouts with cars by pressing L2 and R2 at same time with my PS5 controller. I didn't tested it in some racing games. But it's wierd anyway. I don't know why this happens. Is there any setting in DS4 that i should change to make it work normal as they should? In other type of games i can use both triggers normally. I'm just afraid they are not being responsive enough as they should.

Sounds like its more of a specific bug with GTA. If you're playing GTA through steam. You could try using the steam controller drivers rather than DS4, and see if that helps. Otherwise the only thing you might try is going into DS4 Settings Profile. and finding your way to the extra settings in the tab on the right side. Where you can reduce the input lag of your controller by boosting the bluetooth refresh rate, and tell it not to report back statistics from your controller to DS4.
