Hold the off button for about 8 seconds and you should hear a second beep, then you can let go and it should start up on safe mode.

I know it's been a while and this might not get seen, but I had the same problem many of you are having not even being able to get into safe mode. I did three things. First I entered safe mode through an older seperate tv. Then i followed what he said, and set the resolution to automatic and set the HDCP 1.4 only. Now the next part is key. I'm usually the kind of guy that refuses to believe it's a hardware issue, but I was desperate. He was correct in saying removing all power from both the tv and ps5 will fix the issue, but it has to be done directly after entering safe mode and switching the settings on another tv. Unplug it all and switch back to the main tv. Wait a few minutes then reconnect everything, turn on the tv first, then the ps5. It should work afterwards. The important thing to remember is not to attempt using the main tv until everything is diconnected from both devices (yes this includes power, HDMI, ethernet cable, etc.). Hopefully this helps some of you, and if not just hang in there you will figure something out.

Guys, I got it. Let's see if this works for you guys. Had to downgrade the resolution to 720 something of quality. Okay, here we go. 1)Makes sure PS5 is off. 2) Holds power button, until you hear the 2 beeps, let go. You should see the safe mode or something that gives options. 3)Select Change video output. 4)change resolution. 5) Select 720. That's the only basic quality. 7) Now set up your PS5 and have fun👍👍

@@Patrick4Gooner 1080p or 720 is the best options. Any higher on "1080i" or "20something i", your TV can't handle it and goes black. Otherwise, it could be your HDM cord, or TV.

@@deadpoolwrestler7179 My PS5 works perfectly fine when the HDMI is connected directly to the TV I think the HDMI splitter I ordered off Amazon supports only 1.4 HDMI which is the reason why 4K isn't working. I just ordered a new splitter which supports 2.2 HDMI and 2.0 HDCP. Hopefully this works as this problem has been bugging me!

This didn’t work for me. BUT! If you have a smart tv, like I do, then try restarting your tv by going to the menu and then settings…or however you manually restart your tv based on the type you have. I restarted my tv, and it resolved the issue immediately

My son tripped over the charger in front which made my ps5 start to fall. I caught it in mid fall probably 4 inches from the ground. And the hdmi cord didn't even come out but the game won't display on my TV. Ik it's the hdmi port cause it's gotta to a point where I don't even use my TV remote when I come home. what worked for me (in case this might be helpful for others) was long pressing my tv remote's power button to completely shut the tv down, switch the hdmi cables, then turn the tv on again via tv remote! (i have a 4k smart tv if that info helps, not the old standard hd ones)

Had this problem. Kept saying no signal and it was brand new ps5 and tv. Only way to fix was to unplug my tv. Every. Time. Very frustrating. Saw a comment on tv software update...so I tried that. Fixed the problem straight away. If you have a smart tv, try updating the software. Edit: Problems back. I give up.

my solution: so normally my smartv updates and when it happens seems to desconfigure the connection of the hdmi cable, so i unplugged the ps5 and the Smartv, after a minute i plugged everything and it solved the issue.. now what may have been a conflict besides the apps update was my sound system which is connected via bluetooth on the smartv (i had issues in the past with the sound which is kinda messed up and hard to explain but basically if i messed up in the settings of the sound and imagem it would mess the whole hdmi sources, i had to reset the smartv cuz nothing was working).. so my advice is if your smartv is updating itself or the apps dont turn on the ps5, the sound works but the screen is black.. hope this helps

here are some solutions that might or might not work for you . 1. Power off your ps5 and unplug the power cord and wait for about 10-15 min. 2. Try using another hdmi cable (the ps5 one might be broken) 3. Switch the hdmi that is in your ps5 and put it in the tv and the other way around. 4. Enter safe mode ( hold power button while the ps5 is off till you hear a beep 2 times) and change video output to 720p. you can change this back once you can see your screen again in the settings . 5. Enter safe mode and go to the hdcp settings and set it to hdcp 1.4 only. (this won’t affect the screen resolution or ps5 performance so don’t worry about that.) 6. turn off hdcp on your ps5 by going to settings > system 7. power up the ps5 and plug in the hdmi cable at the same time . 8. If not a single one of these have worked for you i suggest you either keep on trying or factory reset the ps5. I’ve had this happen once and my ps5 started working when i completely reset it ( if you don’t have ps plus and no game data is saved this will be a tough decision, you might want to bring it to a repair shop) 9. And at last you are going to want to get the hdmi port on your ps5 / tv checked. Could be that it’s damaged and it needs to be repaired . i hope this helped at least one of you guys, good luck! :) Edit: I just found out what the problem was with my screen. For me even when i went into safe mode it was still black, i couldn’t see a thing. But when on my LG CX tv when i turned the HDMI ultra HD Deep Colour off everything works fine and i could see the screen again , but when turning on it goes to no hdmi signal found. It’s kind of weird as i’ve always had it turned on with no problem whatsoever. And now that it is turned off my screen starts to flicker every couple of minutes.

This new update that came out today messed up my ps5 😭 tried switching hdmi cables and didnt work, tried turning off (short power cycle) didnt work , tried safe mode settings as shown in video, even tried the update, didnt fix the issue! Only thing left to try is turning power off (long power cycle) for 30 minutes. God willing it will work... I'll update.

The long power cycle reset didn't work. Tried checking if the ps5 works on another tv with the same wires and it does. My conclusion is that the latest ps5 update caused my 1st generation smart tv to have compatibility issues. I now must get a new tv. (wanted one with HDR anyway)
