There were several observations that I made during your show. One of the witch was how far behind the United States is behind China in BEV Auto development. From a consumer standpoint I realize this was true because for some reason the United States cannot produce a budget electric vehicle, it appears that the legacy automakers think it's impossible, and Tesla seems to think we're all going to be in taxis. I think perhaps, that we should light a fire under US automakers, by providing time sensitive tariffs only. That is that a tariff is good for 5 years, and then it sunsets. Right now as it stands the United States doesn't seem to be doing a darn thing to catch up with China and their developmental stages. Although, I did know you did have an organization that tears down automobiles. And that they were tearing down a $10,000 economical electric car from China. I do recognize that there were a lot of safety features that needed to go into that car before it would be acceptable to the United States. If you wouldn't mind. There has been some discussion on why Chinese cars in the United States would be a national security issue. But no one is ever explained why and exactly what it is that China would get from an electric car that they can't get by using Google maps. If you have a program on this please direct me.

The security risk with EVs or any car that becomes a "computer on wheels" is over the air updates or hacking. Tesla, for example, could do an over the air update that could disable all of its cars over night. In the event of war an entire transport system could be disabled by a few key strokes.

My wife’s family live in the Philippines. Electric vehicles and charging infrastructure are just not going to happen for many decades. Perhaps Manila and Cebu, there might be some take up? But third world countries have not enough electricity generation infrastructure to keep the lights on 24/7. May be scooters and electric push bikes, might get some take up, but the 4 stroke 100cc Honda scooters are a very practical and proven standard family vehicle.

There are lots of companies working on self driving cars and most will continue not because they think they can make money but just sunk cost bias. After you have sunk billions into a project it's impossible to go back to investors and say it's just not worth it to continue, or we failed. You just have to keep pouring money on it until some other force is applied and then you can blame what ever that is. M&A serves this purpose.

You get a contract and a 1000€ salary , also 6 weeks vacation to study ,but full time from 9 to 5 But no debts and no obligations, students can leave if they have graduated so the competition is high where they offer more to keep these talents which they had recruited across the country. 15 spots per year by mercedes but back then 30.000 applications and they had the choice to choose the best talents or whatever they were looking for ... bride skills, high social profile and engagement and what not. But you had to study hard cause each semester is done within 3 months or double the speed of the university where the profs were coming from but got an additional payment from the big companies. Worked out quite well in the southern states first for over 2 decades till the other states followed.

EV ownership in Denmark and Norway is very high and they are very happy. This notion EVs are rotten in the cold is more myth than reality. When you consider the number of EV options has been expanding with every passing year and the tech has been rapidly moving forward, you will likely have some excellent choices for EVs $40,000 or under from a few builders by 2030 or earlier. I am thinking 2028 will likely be a great year to find something that will work for you. An all wheel drive Model 3 would likely do just fine there now. The EV3 will be in North America soon. My father-in-law has a 2022 Kia Niro EV he has enjoyed using in Vermont.

The job question is complex and depends a lot on which type of jobs and the where question. The USA needs to focus first on EV manufacturing and being a leader. If the USA does lead there we will lose a lot of jobs which is exactly what is going to happen. I would say for manufacturing it does not matter if it is EV or paper towels we need a national focus on being a player there. We can do it but it will be automation dominated with high quality and low prices without large payrolls. We need to do it without using subsidies. We start by replacing the current tax system for companies with a value added tax system. That to would result in less accounting jobs in manufacturing. To many companies spent to much money lobbying government for special tax breaks in our current tax system. The debate with value added tax is how much it is which will be easier to understand.
