How to fix those Pastelmat chips

Hello Law, I watched your video, and one product we pastelers use to fix problems is transparent gesso. Once dry it's similar to the pastel mat surface and it has grit and would cover the bump with no problems. I use the transparent gesso to fix over-burnished spots and bumps and scratches on the paper. The only thing to be cautious about is the surface will probably allow 2 layers. So for touch-ups it's ideal. Regards.

Thank you. Yes, gesso is great as are Golden grounds. The thing with the Brush & Pencil products is that if you are working on a pure colour pencil piece like this one then those specific products are accepted by the CPSA for pure pencil submissions. This was why I was so hesitant to try anything else first as it automatically can become something else under the rules. Gesso and grounds though I would hope are both surface preps so would not be considered as mixing the media. For personal work though I wouldn't hesitate to try those next

thanks for the hint, looks like it works! nothing worse than finding a paper flaw after hours of work, once i found a line of sizing across the whole sheet of watercolor paper , ruined the painting.

Is this a colored pencil or pastel pencil you're using? And is this horse portrait one of your tutorials? I have never tried black & white on pastel Mat.

Yes. This is my most recent in depth colour pencil tutorial using a single pencil on Pastelmat. Lots of different techniques used and no stress about choosing colours

It's what I call my scrubber brush. It really helps with creating smoothness on Pastelmat

Mumbling? Sorry but I really don't mumble and my accent is just English. Maybe best to avoid watching anything else on my channel. 😮
