Finally I found a video that is very well detailed and easy to follow!! I’m a single mother who recently just got ripped off by a contractor $50,000!! He started the job and left me with a huge mess and no money to hire someone else to fix it! Wish me luck trying to do this myself. I have everything I need to do this job. I just need to take it slow and steady.

Subscribed right away! You have no idea how long I've been trying to find a detailed video of how to do this. You did such an amazing job describing everything and bless you a hundred fold for adding the items in the description to help me figure out what I'll need for the job. I have been bragging about this video to my whole family. I've never done drywall but now I'm getting some confidence I can do this myself, even with the lack of skills :) THANK YOU!

Great video, no crazy music,no screaming, just great tutorial and so humble about his work that he makes me feel I can do it too. Also super clean...I make a bigger mess just brushing my hair.

Good example of a simple DIY look. One detail about the caulk: when smoothing it with your finger, the caulk should only cover about 1/4" of the window frame. The caulk needs to be painted, because dust will stick to unpainted caulk and it cannot be cleaned. And you don't want excess paint visible on your window frame. So keep it tight.

Should it not be silicone around a window??
@ACE-sx8mo
@ACE-sx8mo 3 күн бұрын
@@garymugford3273 Other than wet environments, silicone is not the best for appearance grade finish work. It is tricky to apply with precision, it cannot be easily smoothed, and it is not paintable. An exposed, unpaintable bead of caulk will not provide a clean uniform appearance. A quality latex caulk around interior windows is easier to apply. You can smooth and feather it with a wet finger, it seals well, paints well and is flexible enough for slight movement.

Great video. I am redoing some windows and wasn't really sure what I want to do with window ledge. My brother did some of my window ledges this way. Unfortunately he passed away and I didn't get to watch him do the work. I will by trying this. However I may do the bottom edge with wood.

What a great video! Thank you for making it... this was the educational video I needed to see. I have a follow up question: I have to remove/repair some of the joint compound where it attached to the corner bead and I'm wondering how to properly paint over the edge of the metal at the 90 degree angle? It seems like simple paint would quickly get rubbed off. Or maybe the paint would hold better once I replace the joint compound and make it a cleaner edge? Not sure... any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Nice explanatory video, thanks! I was wondering, in my case I have enough gap all around inside window frame to run my sheetrock strips actually back into that gap all around as well. I was thinking, why not do this? Still caulk and use foam as needed, but why not?

we have the right corner uneven going down. the window is straight but the window frame isn't. - tighter on bottom right corner than top. they are telling me the sheetrock is hard to do now because there isn't enough space in the left bottom corner. should they be chipping the wood away to open it up wider? not sure hwy they are afraid to

What separates the inside from the outside? There is a gap between my drywall and the window, and I'm worried that if I remove it I'll have a bigger gap, or remove what the window is sitting on so there isn't anything but exterior caulk sitting between the gap and the exterior. Does that question make sense? And is it something a professional would need to answer? Lol
