How to Fix Wide Angle Lens Distortion with Photoshop

Using a Wide Angle lens (like I did when photographing Brentor Church) can cause perspective warp. This is good to keep in some areas of our images such as the foreground to emphasise that area HOWEVER there may be some areas we don't want it. Here's how to quickly fix in Photoshop PLUS why I didn't do it in Lightroom or Camera RAW.

I shot the church earlier this year from more or less the same position. I corrected the perspective in LR (because I didn’t know about the PS tip) but now need to reprocess it in PS as you did Glynn. Very helpful video.

I was wondering why you hadn't used the lens-correction - but as soon as I realised you'd stacked images together, that made more sense. Really impressive, and as you say subtle, but makes a big difference.

The adaptive wideangle filter works a bit more subtle, when only local adjustments are needed.

Well done! But wouldn't it be more realistic (to our brain...) if the church wasn't completely upright?

Not really no, because when I was there looking at it, it was upright ... it's the lens that makes it appear otherwise

The church is above centre in tbe photograph, so it looks like you are looking up to it. Therefore, we expect the top of the tower to be further away than the bottom ... so we expect the top to be narrower than the bottom. Having its sides parallel is therefore unatural.
