The bench unit may be easier initially, but the Graves maps for their 3/4 and full systems have each already been revised at least once. Imo the bike harness is easier in the long run if you plan on periodically updating your ecu.

The ECU kit does have the option to disable the AIS, but it is still recommend to do it physically bc air can still sip in th air box and give you an innacurate dyno reading.

AIS make back fire and poping wich in turn is not good for the engine. I have made the with my 09 R1 and it's worth it.

I would use a full system map for any brand exhaust. That should get you a good result. If you want more you will need to get the bike on the dyno and have a map built. - Van

Hey could you please help me figure something out? I have a 2016 r1s and I just spent some good money running a 3/4 system then my local shop installed a pc5 and they blocked off air injection and made me a custom map and dyno tuned my bike and made great hp.Now the question is can I purchase ft ecu kit and just raise my redline a little and adjust the amount of throttle I am getting and leave the pc5 in my bike without any trouble? I don't want to override there custom map I just want to raise redline and amount of actual throttle. If you can answer my question I would highly appreciate it

Hi Brian; please Help, I have few question. I flash my MT09sp. under Unrestricted mode, and i m looking at ecu setting. 1st Question: On the "Disable top speed limiter", What should i select. (True/False). sorry i really confused. 2nd Question: I noticed after i flashed. when i start riding off my bike and the fan is turning ON. But the bike wasn't really heated up to 195c. If you want the top speed limiter removed you need to set that to true. As for the fans there is nothing wrong with it coming on at 195. If you want it to turn on later you can change that as well. FTECU has some great support. Not a bad idea to shoot these questions to them as every model can be a little different. - Van

I have a 2019 Yamaha R1. The latest Graves R1 flash I see for download is 2018. Seems like the changes should be very minor so would that 2018 ECU flash work with my 2019 bike?

To get a Graves flash for any of the most current model bikes you have to be running their exhaust. If you have their exhaust they will send you the file to load into your bike. - Van

I do not think there is an M4 specific flash. That said I am comfortable running a map based on the system configuration regardless of the exhaust brand I am running. Have been doing that for years with good results. To get the last couple of % in performance you would need to get the bike fully tuned. Most often the difference is not even noticeable. - Van

Hey Van, I'm curious who your POC is at Graves? I recently purchased a bench kit from your store and went to upload a Graves Tune(BX4-8591A-10-(US)Graves Exhaust Cat Eliminator 051717L) for my 18-R1S... Unfortunately, because it's a midyear R1 it has a B60 ECU in it and all of Graves tunes are for BX4 ECU's. I asked FTECU about it and they said that I would have to contact Graves because they only have available what Graves gives them. Can you assist???

Graves has stopped allowing unrestricted access to their Flash Tune files, this started about a year ago I think. While this can still vary from model to model the only way to get a Graves tune is to purchase one of their exhaust systems. After purchasing the exhaust you contact Graves with proof of purchase and they email you an access code. I have been told FTECU is working on adding tunes of their own for customers to use. Not sure where they are at with this process and need to call them again. Is there a tune in their data base you can use for your bike? - Van

Which sucks because if my bike had I BX4 variant ECU I could use all the graves tunes and no one would care what exhaust I had. You said in here that you ran their tune with an Akro, and it ran great yea?!

Yep, I used that tune with several exhaust systems and the bike always ran great. IMO as long as you are running a quality system on the bike a good tune for pretty much any system will work well. - Van

@@ShonBroomer The unrestricted file from FTECU is a massive improvement from stock. It is mapped for aftermarket exhaust with both fuel and ignition corrections in the file. I would 100% run this file in my bike with an aftermarket exhaust. If you have a Graves system on the bike with a proof of purchase you can contact Graves requesting access to the file they have built as it would be a little different from the FTECU. Graves puts a lot of time and effort into those files which is why they restricted access to these files. While the Graves file has it's advantages IMHO most riders (myself included) are not able to ride the bike at a high enough level to take advantage of the difference in the files. - Brian Van

ritelite77 Still tuning the suspension, only one real day of riding so far. That is a 1.0 in the rear, forks are stock (30mm kit waiting for me to install) I tightened the rebound 3 clicks last weekend at the track and put a new rear on. Much better tire wear after that. - Van

I know for sure it can do the PAIR System, Exhaust Servo and Steering damper. When you get the bike ready to flash you can enable or disable certain options. Once you have done this you finish the flash and off you go. - Van

I would install the exhaust and block off plates then flash the bike with a map for a full system. End of the day there will be a massive improvement in performance. If you were racing for the win and felt like you needed every last bit of power then invest in a tune with a reputable tuner. - Van

Technically you should but to be honest you do not have to in most cases with modern sport bikes that are fuel injected. I have installed many systems on bikes that did not get a tuner installed with zero issues. - Brian Van

The map should work well for pretty much any system. If you are racing in a pro level series I would say it is really only set up for the graves system, but it would be hard for most people to tell the difference. Thanks for watching!

I did not use the active tune and we do not sell many of them. I would recommend just flashing the bike (assume you have a 15-18 R1) using the Graves map. If you do not see the option to disable the top speed limiter in the software then that is either not available or unnecessary.

Yes you would need the unit. I would say in your case the active tune could be very beneficial since you are doing some different types of riding. I actually am using this very same map with my Akrapovic system as well and it runs great.

It's not Flashtune that's making the bike not legal for road use then... it's what you're doing with the software that is... presumably by disabling the O2 sensor and air injection system. I'm not saying it's wrong to do this, but don't blame the software for making a bike technically not legal for road use when in fact it's how you are using it that's making it that way.
