I live in FL and love the moles in my yard. You see, especially during the dry season, the ground gets really dry and when you try to water the plants the water doesn't get absorbed into the ground, it just runs away. The moles make tunnels very close to my plants, therefore when I water my plants that have been serviced by moles, the water goes in right away, into the roots of the plants, getting away from the sun and therefore also avoiding evaporation. I can tell you that my plants that have been serviced by moles do much better, by far, than the ones that have not been visited by them. Just a word for the moles!

We recently moved into a new house that had mole tunnels everywhere in the back yard. Fortunately, we have a Jack Russell mix that has a high prey drive. She has killed at least a dozen moles and voles in the last month! Whenever she passes, I'll definitely give your hose method a shot...or get another Jack.

@@g4outdoors She digs in a smaller, more concentrated area. It's fun to watch. She'll start by sniffing around then hone into a specific area. Her head will tilt and ears perk up while listening to the mole in the ground. When it's close, she'll pounce on the area, dig rapidly then pull out a mole.

Thanks for this video. I've been trying to catch/kill a mole that has devastated my yard the past few weeks. I've been using the scissor traps, but have not been successful. It's as though the mole knows about the trap and tunnels around it. I tamped down all the raised dirt from the tunneling and set the traps again. Then I came in and got online looking for a better solution. I found and watched your video about using a shovel to dig it out when I can see the mole digging. In the 15 minutes it took for me to find and watch your video; then walk out to the mole digging area with a shovel I discovered the mole was already opening up its tunnels. I saw movement and with one shovel strike was able to dig it out. Amazing! Thanks again.

I tried the pesticide route first to kill their food source. It was ineffective. Then tried the poison worms, had some luck with that but it didn’t eliminate the problem. I tried the spear traps and they were mostly ineffective. I caught a couple of moles the same way you did with water. I still did not get them all though. I finally bought smoke bombs for use on moles and they were VERY effective. Killed them right now. I think I finally got them all. I highly recommend the smoke bombs.

Smoke bombs do work to a degree if they are in that tunnel close by. It's hit and miss. My best is the scissor traps. Setting on new activity as soon as you see it. I've killed a few with a product called Mole Cat which uses a .22 blank. But as soon as you see fresh activity, don't delay. I have 3 traps and the Mole Cat. I set them all in a row, one in each mound. Glove up and don't get your scent on your traps. Build a soil bridge under the trap trigger so he has to tunnel through and it will set off the trap. If you don't get on it immediately, they are hard to locate the larger their system of tunnels gets.

I have all kinds of mounds and holes in my yard but never have seen the critter. I shove big heavy rocks in their holes but I will try flooding them out. Is there a good time to look for them? I thought they were nocturnal.

Cindy Z They will just dig around any objects you out in their path lol. I find that they are more active at the surface between 8am and noon. Of course they can be there anytime, but more active at this time. Put your hose in the highest elevation that you can find and hopefully you will see one pop it’s muddy but out and take care of business! Happy hunting!!

I have had a terrible problem with moles and for as much damage as I see, I feel like there must be an army of them under my house and in my yard? I have tried every known product for mole extermination in any of the stores in my area... I am about ready to try flushing them out with a hose, But what if that doesn't work? Or what if they get flushed out of their tunnels but I can't catch them?
@g4outdoors
@g4outdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Betsey Padrutt They will run away, drown, or pop out of the ground. After you’ve ran water with no evidence of movement, squish the ground down. When the ground dries after the water has ran, you’ve just created an indestructible tunnels or them.

Keep at it! The best traps to get are the noose style ones that lay in their tunnels. Flushing them out will only get rid of the closest critters. But then the runs become impacted from the water making it easier for them to roam around. I don’t think there is a solid quick fix to completely getting rid of moles. Good luck though!

They are fun to drop kick! My record distance is 100 yards so far. Bubba, my younger brother, once drop kicked one fer 95 yards and mama once hit 60 yards which isn't bad for a female bare footed.. Pappy tried to eat one once and said they sure don't taste like chicken, more like sewage so that's why we don't eat them. Pappy thinks maybe they got into our cess pool.......But they are fun to drop kick!!! If you get them dead center on the toes of your boots, ya'll can hear a solid squeak when they launch. So excitin'. Happy drop kickin', ya'll !!!
