First Attempt: Fired right into the sun. Second Attempt: Fired right into Ash Twin. I decided to stick with my default shuttle at that point.

First time aboard this thing was actually really cool for me, I just touched some random buttons and somehow managed to fly straight to Giant's Deep so fast I went to the abyss without the tornado's help (I even had an acheivement for that). First, I thought it was scripted, then I realized later it was just pure luck and hella funny

This is a game where each player have different experience with the game. Seriously, some are lucky some really have bad luck LOL From the LP's I watched, someone accidentally ported to the ash twin core, someone used Nomai shuttle to land on the Quantum moon thinking it's the only way, someone met Solanum without knowing the quantum rules, someone found the Vessel by just exploring, and a lot more. This is such a fascinating game.

That’s amazing dude. I just had an experience where I hit the probe cannon with the nomai shuttle , which glitched into the fastest you can possibly go in the entire game lol. The other time I got randomly hit by a fireball while flying to giants deep in a nomai shuttle/ they’re really the weirdest mechanics in the game.

Same thing happened to me so I thought getting to the core Ash Twin would be the same (since there's also an grav canon on Ember Twin i figured that must be why it's there), took me several attempts to figure out this is not the way you get inside Ash Twin

@@builderboy5502 im not sure what makes you think a nomai did that. they plotted the course, but never made the flight because it was "too dangerous. there are safer ways to travel there." I think the warp core was built into it, making it so a flight there was never needed. Also, the shuttles use the bodies gravity to lock onto it and land. the sun station doesnt have such a gravity well, meaning we can only smash into it at full speed.

@@builderboy5502 its ok. ultimately you were right. i have hit the sun station with a shuttle. and if the crash didnt cause a glitch i could of gotten inside lol. its possible, just....sorta not how the shuttles function normally.

Nice! I did my first shuttle landing on Timber Hearth from Brittle Hollow during my second playthrough. Scariest part about the shuttles, tho, is when the warp recall malfunctions. I tried a landing on Dark Bramble, missed it, and as I tried to recall back, the warpdrive crapped on me. So here I am, hurling towards outer space, in an ancient tech rock. I bailed and by a little miracle, managed to get back to the White hole station and warped back. Sure, the sun killed me a few minutes later, but still, those we're some real Nomai hours rite there.

Dude! On my second attempt flying them i got lucky and hit giants deep! I shifted the ball to the right and it glitched and teleported me home! Dark Bramble is way out there! Maybe the small warp cores have a distance limit? If you ever do land on bramble in a shuttle let me know! I couldnt get it for the life of me!!

Lol I didn't even know u could actually control those things during flight and acutally get from one planet to another and I've played the game for quite some time. Every time I got into the ship I would just fly straight up and never return :D

Imagine if the devs gave us OUTER WILDS: HARDCORE EDITION where fuel is limited so you have to plan your trips using orbital mechanics, launch windows, and a delta-v budget.

Interestingly the fuel gage already works. The hearthians must be close to no wasted energy though cause it barely moves. But tbh they already put that in the game to a certain extent. Nomai shuttles take serious planning. So much so the majority of players think they don't function.

On one of my first launches I was landing at ash twin and ember twin hit the shuttle causing a glitch where the game still thought I was in the shuttle but I had been knocked out giving me stupid amounts of increasing momentum.

Same. Quantum moon was the last place I got to and the only place I had to use a walkthrough to get there. At first I thought it had to do with the shuttles, then I thought I had to land at a specific spot, and when all attempts on that failed I went back to messing with the shuttles... The solution still doesn't make sense to me after I looked it up. Unless I missed something, why can't I just look at it with my own four eyes but has to use a camera?

For the moon to stay in place you have to look at it. While going through its atmosphere you can't look at the moon. Therefore you need a photo of it to look at.

@@PatchyE the storm around the planet obscures your vision is what I assume, so you gotta follow the rule of quantum imaging by observing it through a picture, you're taught how to do this by following a quantum signal to the north pole of Giant's Deep, which is where you learn quantum imaging There's also a quantum rule to find on Ember Twin; quantum entanglement

I just kind of launched myself out of the solar system with it, got the music achievement out of it by trying to scan the sun, but didn't go far enough to get the achievement for trying to escape. It's fun to teleport the shuttle on top of your own spaceship and cause the trajectory to completely glitch out when you try to launch, though most of the time you don't survive the liftoff

It would be cool if your ship broke down _slightly_ easier so that every couple of loops or so you would have to use these to get from planet to planet After flinging myself into deep space a couple of times I realized these were useless and ignored them

im just surprised the hearthians' ship is faster, more advanced, precise, more reliable than nomai shuttles (ik nomai shuttles don't need fuel but still) then again the nomai constructed the vessel...

im not quite sure how combustion fuel is more advanced than gravity based acceleration. or where you get the reliability thing from either. And its MUCHHHHH easier to use(if you know how to use them). Instead of having to control a giant metal ball through every movement through space. You just hit launch, then land. easiest thing in the world.

@@lred1383 It's more like a comparison between a car and a bullet train. The shuttles can run on a schedule, are reliable by running on essentially rails, and take you from one large destination to another large destination much easier and efficiently. They are more advanced they just aren't meant to give you the flexibility to go "off rails", which honestly presents a huge risk. The Nomai didn't get time loops to crash their ships hundreds of times in trial and error like you do.

Well, I managed to (successfully) land on Brittle Hollow, Giant's Deep, the Interloper, and Timber Hearth. Had a bit of bad luck landing on Ash Twin, the sand pillar leading to an instant death, and a different attempt to land on Brittle Hollow that resulted in landing on Hollow's Lantern. I'm guessing this is something that just takes some practice and getting used to?

What exactly? The shuttle will target to the closest body. Its hard to land on brittle because it targets the black hole. And youre almost always closer to the lantern than the black hole. But sometimes it works ::D

The Lore Explorer I suppose it could be useful if you crash your ship and can’t repair it. If parts of the ship disconnect and you’re stranded but don’t want to waste the loop, you could use the shuttle on a planet (if there is one) to get to any planet you need to after you’ve done what you need to where you crashed.

Its also useful if you want to break the game. The devs have said that the hardest thing for the game is to have your ship, your scout and your player in different planets. If you have the shuttle on a fourth one, then its sure to cause some havoc. I haven't actually tried it, but it sounds like fun

SPOILER: When I was playing through, I had a theory that you needed to use the shuttles to land on the quantum moon, since there were records of the one young Nomai who used the shuttle on Brittle Hollow to fly there. After several attempts and slamming in to the side of a planet, I gave up.

the first time i tried the nomai shuttle from ember twin. It was in an awkward position so it launched into the gravity cannon wich made me skyrocket out of the spaceship and into the solar system. the game glitched out so i had infinite oxygen and i was a ble to rotate around the sun at light speed for a while

I was on the Quantum moon when I heard the sun go supernova. I then waited a small amount of time and warped the shuttle. I didn't die to the supernova... I died from being smacked around in the shuttle at ungodly speeds.

It's for landing on the nearest celestial body - if you manage to get close enough to a planet, you can set it to that and it will smoothly land.

Yeah. Launch(left slot)only works while still at the cannon. The middle slot(recall to home base) will stop working if the cannon has been compromised by falling through the black hole or filling with sand. And the right slot(landing) only works when you’re close to a planet! With no directions it’s tough to figure out, but it’s fun to fly!

Yes. I meant moving the ball. Moving the ball to the right initiates a landing if you’re close enough to a gravity source.

@@momomori_JP do you know the shortcut to the sunless city? Near the grav cannon there is a small hole that gives you access to the top floor of the sunless city. that way you dont have to waste time following the trail from the escape pod.

It simple because they don't get to experience been a 'driver' They are not in control of their vessel and are left to the machine and another thing besides the driver. If you want to drive, then you want to be a driver, not a passenger in your own vessel.
