This tutorial illustrates and explains how to do an NDB approach in the CJ4 Working Title Mod in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The airport used (PASV) is on the slope of a mountain with a 4.8% gradient. Sparrevohn airport in real life requires special certification and is for military use only or military approved contractors.

Really appreciate that you combined so many "non-standard" flight sim elements in this video. I also appreciate the 10 minute format - so many worthwhile tutorials by IRL pilots are real-time full flights and I rarely have the time for that (when I have that much time i'd rather be vFlying!).

I have seen some of the really long videos of flights myself and I also prefer the shorter flights. These are meant to be educational without taking a lot of time. Short and to the point. Long flights are for live streams which I just started doing. There will be one tomorrow night (April 22nd) at 730 EST.

Nice Job!!! I like the way you pronounced the name of the airport, I would done the same and stateted the plate number at the top 🤣🛫 It is difficult to find many NDB approach’s in the lower 48 they are disappearing as fast as the ground equipment fails. Again great job.😁🛫 The best flight sim is one that works on what CPU and graphics card one currently has. I am looking for a reasonable priced RTX3070.

I have the 2080 Super and it still runs smoothly all the time. Even with 2 monitors running at once off the same graphics card it never misses a beat. I am curious about better graphics cards. Running everything on ultra settings in VR is a wish of mine. Someday and probably with a different VR headset.

I deleted his comment and blocked both of his accounts. He can't hurt us anymore..haha. He only has a private pilot certificate. No instrument rating. I looked him up on the FAA Airmen Registry. It would have been fun to let him reply but something tells me he would not. Whenever the keyboard warriors come out I take a jab right back at them. So far, none have ever answered. I will miss him.

The purple line on the PFD is just following the points in the FMS. The FMS wasn’t being used in this example since an NDB approach was being done using just the bearing pointer.

@@nizo8451 there are lots but they are slowly going away. If you go to FltPlan.com and then click digital charts you can search airports and see any approach plate in the United States. Try a Google search for NDB approaches to find some.

I honestly did it once and don't remember. I use it on the ipad or on my 2nd monitor. If you use it on a tablet or 2nd monitor, don't stop. Put something else on the MFD. Just my advice but what do I know..ha

NDB with a frequency with a fraction, like 112.5. How to tune in the decimals ? Is it supported by certain aircrafts in FS2020 ? Thanks for taking time making these awesome tutorials :)

The NDB frequency in the video is 281. NDBs are 3 digit frequencies - whole numbers. 112.5 would be a VOR frequency. VORs are 108.00-117.95 if my memory serves me correctly and Localizers are 108.1 to 111.95.

Correction - some countries do have NDB frequencies that are like 341.5. In that case you'd type it in the FMS but I am not sure it would take it depending on how it is programmed in FS2020.

No, it requires 2. The CJ4 can do a single pilot waiver.

I can. I actually recorded the same approach in the steam gauge 172. My goal was to overlay the DG and ADF on the screen, which I did, but couldn't get the timing and speed right to make it match up with editing so I took it out. If you're wanting to see it to see the differences with a stand alone ADF, check out the ADF tutorial video on my channel. It's really the same thing except the needle isn't overlayed like it is on the PFD in the CJ4. What is the best flight sim and why?

Its so difficult honestly. Im 25 but i have been using flightsims since im 8 starting with FS9, following FSX and then XP10 and XP11 mainly (mixing it up with P3D of course). Every Sim has its pros and cons. But at the moment im enjoying MFS the most. Of course i miss the complex aircraft at the moment, but the Sceneries and landscapes makes it so refreshing for heading to new destinations. To sum it up: For me there is no best flightsim. Theres just a flightsim you enjoy the most for a timespan over the years.

@@thecorporatepilotdad Default aircraft are just that. Default. If you want realism to a tee, you have to buy third party aircraft like PMDG for example. Or A2A for GA. They will be available some time this year. This is how the flightsim market works since FS4.

How to calculate the time

In the profile view the note says "Remain within 10 NM". When flying outbound, the leg away from the fix and procedure turn need to be completed within 10 NM. Ground speed is used. If moving at 60 knots over the ground, the airplane is travelling at 1 mile per minute, 120=2NM, 180=3, 240=4 NM per minute and so on. Select a time that will keep the airplane within 10 NM.
