Thank you. The engine start procedure can be done differently than in the video. Recently, a video on my channel was published showing how to start the engines in the CJ4 which is the way CJ4s are started in the real-world - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaKymaqchruMp80 The rest of the information remains the same. Glad you enjoyed it. If you are interested in the Longitude at all, there is a 4-part (and maybe more parts in the future) series on how to fly the airplane from engine start to landing and even flying a missed approach. The CJ4 is great but the Longitude is phenomenal in MSFS.

Nice video. The 260kts at 8,000' is a good one. I wound up looking that up as well before and the answer lies in 25.571(e) (1) Impact with a 4-pound bird when the velocity of the airplane relative to the bird along the airplane's flight path is equal to Vc at sea level or 0.85Vc at 8,000 feet, whichever is more critical; 305kts x .85 = 260 kts for the CJ4.

Thank you so much for the great video! Can I ask you if you can make a video on "how to perform the step climbs"? there isn't any video on YT abouth it!
@thecorporatepilotdad3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I wrote it on my list. I might be able to throw that in a video along the way. Here is a step climb - simplified. Maintain a lower cruise altitude until you reach the TAS you want for cruise plus a few knots, then climb 2000 feet. Instead of going to 38,000 feet with a heavy airplane and having a slow TAS, go to 34,000 at the desired TAS and burn off fuel then climb to 36,000 and repeat then go to 38,000. That is a step climb.
@tarlot.97573 жыл бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad I'm asking also if there is a right way to set the FMC to perform automatic step climb up. For example ROME-PRAGUE. Here in Italy if you fly north you fly FL300 but when you arrive in CROATIA, you have to climb to FL310 (for example asl FPL require). Can FMC reach automatic altitude? If yes, how we can do that? Great tips. I'd not noticed the flood lights up top. Have you done a video about your personal flight planning preferences at all? Sadly LNM to MSFS to WT CJ4 doesn't work great. @@stovic1442 I do but also use Navigraph and SimBrief. Last I checked SimBrief was still free. Navigraph owns SimBrief and Navigraph has worldwide charts which are highly recommended. The approach plates they have are the same things we use in the airplanes I fly but WAYYY cheaper.
@stovic14423 жыл бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad I've been trying to use Little NavMap as it's graphically really nice to see what different plans look like etc. It lets you use MSFS data only if you want which is plenty good enough and free for me. I'm playing with simbrief as you can load plans direct into CJ4 which is cool but I think what I'll settle on is LNM for the basic route, leaving SID/STARS and transitions until flight, plugging in to the FMS direct. Navigraph looks good but it's expensive for casual play and the charts I can get elsewhere. Thanks.

The chart button does not work but that is ok because not everyone uses it in real life even. One of the airplanes I fly has that button and we don't use it. It costs money to get the charts on the MFD (for the subscription) when most people use Ipads with the exact same info. But I get what you are saying. The video is in depth for what FS2020 is in its current state. I wish all the buttons worked because if they did, I would show what they all do. Yes to airspeed. Without auto throttle it doesn’t do a lot other than serve as a reminder. In the MFD MENU or MFD DISPLAY (can’t remember which) in the real airplane we can select speed, altitude, and missed approach and it will display each of the selected items on the MFD. It also shows degrees in the area of speed/altitude on the FMS which is the descent angle the VNAV is using to calculate TOD from the next restriction. That angle can be changed in the real FMS 3000 but I don’t think the WTM allows the angle to be changed yet.

@@dabneyoffermein595 I do believe that's the Proline 21. That one has the buttons on the side of the PFD to select radar, refs, Nav Src, etc. I flew an airplane in the past with that style and I prefer it over what is in the CJ4. Both operate the same but the buttons pressed to get to the same pages is a little easier on the style with the buttons. That's my opinion.

I do not believe upper and lower menu buttons work when using the button labelled as such. The CCP (cursor control panel) menu button has upper and lower menu on it. Outside of that, most of it works with the exception of a few items inside the menus which are MSFS limitations, or those items aren't integrated yet. If you are on Discord, check out the Working Title server. If there is a problem, they will know about it.

With FADEC active during the start sequence, do you need to wait for 20% N2 or can you press RUN before 20% since FADEC is handling the engine and fuel flow?
@thecorporatepilotdad3 жыл бұрын
20% N2 then press run. Not all FADECs have the same functions. In FS2020 it will start either way. As far as I know in real life it's 20% N2 then press run.
@K200173 жыл бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad In the CJ4, you press RUN without delay. Pressing RUN turns on FADEC and then it decides when to light off but it's always gonna happen at 12% N2 from what I've seen.

@@K20017 I wish I had a manual before making this video but they are hard to get. I'm still trying to get one. In talking to my mechanic friend I was surprised when he told me about the start procedure. In the XLS+ we can take the throttle out of cutoff and press then press start. I'm also curious about the hyd shutoff buttons. When you press the fuel switch light does that not shut off hydraulics and fuel or is the hydraulic button for other situations?
@K200173 жыл бұрын
@@thecorporatepilotdad Fuel switch light? Not sure what you mean there. The Hyd shutoff buttons actuave the firewall shutoff valve which would isolate the engine driven pumps from the rest of the system. I think the only reason you would ever use it for would be an overpressure situation and in-flight windmill engine restart.

How to change RAT displayed to SAT ???
@thecorporatepilotdad4 ай бұрын
There is no way to change RAT to SAT. RAT is what the airplane skin feels. If RAT is above zero, but SAT is below zero, ice should not form. Given the two choices on temperature readings, RAT would be more useful.

@@thecorporatepilotdad I have seen videos with it displaying SAT on the bottom of the PFD

@thecorporatepilotdad3 жыл бұрын
There have been reports of Canadian geese at much higher altitudes than 8000 feet. But you're right. That's not a hard and fast altitude but generally, birds don't fly above 8000 feet and that was the explanation I was given by the engineer at Cessna.
@thecorporatepilotdad3 жыл бұрын
Section 25.571 considers the rest of the airframe and requires the airplane be capable of continued safe flight after impact with a four-pound bird at VC at sea level, and .85 VC at 8000 feet. This regulation was introduced at Amendment 25-45 (effective December 1, 1978) with some changes in the speed definition since then. A speed criterion is provided at 8000 feet to ensure adequate bird strike resistance capability up to that altitude.
