Thanks for showing your craft. I built my chopper 2 years ago, 1 year ago started doing leather tooling. Recently decided I want to attempt a single seat for it. Ive been looking for help and insight and everyone acts like its taboo to help. So huge thanks from Tx!

Thank you so much for these videos. Tee hee hee. I chuckled each time you said, "Rear passenger" How many guys at the shop tease you about that? I don't know where else I'd carry my wife. If she's in front or either side, her seat design really ISN'T going to matter! ROFL I'm a DIY'er not because I can do it better, but simply because ... it makes it mine ... er. What is your opinion of 3/4 gel inserts in a seat? I purchased a Corbin seat for a Harley that I'm going to adapt to fit my VTX 1800 with a Harley 7gal extended tank on it (eventually fiberglass). Not trying to make it look like anything. Just making it mine. I love the sexy lines of that tank. ANYHOOO ... The cover seam is splitting in one place. I was already going to make a two-tone seat cover for whatever seat I used. I really wanted the seat for the foam. I am really debating the gel thing. You are more than competent and don't use it, but you are also using new foam (link?) so I thought I'd still ask. Also, I'm considering making my own IST system, but, again, seeing that you don't put one in your pan I'm thinking the cons outweigh the pros. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom here. It's really appreciated by folks like me.

Hello, we do use gel. Normally 5/8" . gel has its place and we use it in specific circumstances . If we are in a situation that allows us to build the foam custom to fit then we do not need it. Gel is for but burning and soar cheekbones on seats that you are unable to change the shape of the foam.

I'd really like for you explain the different foams and how and when to use them... Watching your videos makes me want to try to make my own seat... Mine won't come out near as good as yours but so far I've tryed 6 seats on my bike, and decided on one . Sent a 400 seat to a upholsterer that messed it up.. and 2 others that didn't do me any favors but take my money... I'm still left with a seat that isn't what I want..

Foams are tough because every supplier sells different foams and each foam is used for specific reasons. Every rider is a different size , weight and different riding styles a position. You need to use all the foam and work them to the best of your knowledge.

I like my sport bike seat look but want it 1 1/2” taller. Should I just add more foam or build a whole new Sadle

Good day Sir How can you ensure water from rain etc. doesn't get under the seat or in the foam?
@AtomicAutoworksTV Жыл бұрын
There are many opinions about that. We feel making sure the water can escape is the best. Some shops wrap the foam in plastic However we find that traps moisture and makes the foam stink and holds on the water .
