Forscan looks to be an awesome tool. I wonder if it would help in diagnosing an issue on a friend's 2011 Escape Hybrid. The red triangle lights up and Pull Over Safely appears on the cluster. I pulled codes and came up with P1A1B and C1015. Whenever this occurred he simply restated the engine and drove off. It would happen every couple of weeks. Now it's happening more often. I'm thinking that the vacuum pump has failed. I don't have a scanner that does bio-directional functions. Can I energize the vacuum pump circuit by jumping terminals 30 and 87 for the pump relay?

And what is this battery balance doing? Will it increase mpg?

It can a little just due to the battery being balanced. It's mainly to keep the health of the battery good and keep the cells close in voltage.

This is not how to properly balance the hybrid battery it needs to go all the way through to 100% not jump from any percentage to 100% it is complete yes but only with what cells it could after doing this you need to drive the hybrid a little rough making the charge/assist display fluctuate as much as possible for about 15 mins then go park car wait for it to go into hv mode then start rebalance again may take a few weeks to get it fully rebalanced.
