The center plate is supposed to be installed directly to the stud with no drywall in between. Also you are supposed to use lag bolts and NOT nails to secure that center plate.

If your using a standard radius track with torsion springs you need to run your side jambs up higher than shown in this video. The door side tracks extend beyond the header on each side to accommodate the torsion spring mounting plates on each side. If your installer is using pull type springs maybe you can get away with what your showing, but because of the center pad it is my assumption your intending to use a torsion spring system. Amateurs teach amateurs to be amateurs.

You know it. I repair lots of doors that just have not been framed in properly. The garage door is the heaviest moving thing in your house (depending on couch potatoes) which needs to be dealt with accordingly.

Oh, I thought this was about "framing out" a garage door opening. I now realize you meant this is how to "trim or case out" the garage door opening to accommodate some garage doors...
