The Cat Factory (what I like to call this area of the game) is easily the most viscerally eerie part of the game for me. All these lovely kitties trapped in cages for seemingly no region, endlessly mewling for their freedom. It leaves so many questions about why they're there, and for what purpose. A truly excellent bit of environmental atmosphere.

A small tip for music-lovers: you're not just limited to one octave when playing the animal flute! Just use the keys/buttons normally used to cycle through items to lower the octave or raise the key by 1/2 step.

I actually first encountered the mama cat by brute-forcing my way up from the lower-left passage of the room; climbing the vertical shaft by spamming B. B. Wand bubbles, then smashing through the stalagmites and stalactites with the yoyo. I approached it the entirely wrong way, yet got there anyway, which is what I love about Animal Well.

I'd actually originally tried with the frisbee and regular B. Wand and got pretty far, though executing so many frisbee jumps in such a narrow passage with only one bubble at a time proved to be far too difficult for me - especially since I'd usually end up frisbee-ing into the spikes along the diagonal part. I think it's definitely possible with the right timing though which means you can also skip the B. B. Wand; once you get your footing in the upper passage you can just bust your way through.

Yeah, this one left me a bit stumped. I found all of the codes and the big cat, and I realized they are probably connected, but it just didn't occur to me to use the codes free the cats (even tho I kinda wanted to free them from the moment I first saw them) until I accidentally activated the flute near one. Anyway, this game got me absolutely hooked, ~13 hours in, 61 eggs found (plus I know where another 2 (or even 3) likely are, just can't get to them yet), 3 of [redacted just in case] located and 3 dark spots left on the map (which are driving me absolutely insane). Hoping there's still new stuff to find in the 3rd layer for when I maybe actually engage with the community (alternatively I guess I can just hole up in my room and try to solve it on my own from zero while losing the remains of my mind)

I found four on my own (thats also where I discovered the bubble jump on my own and it blew my mind lol) and I figured that the last code would need the slinky, but I never would have thought to use it in that random spot. I'm glad I looked it up, thank you for the guide

Oh how did I not find the little shortcut to the bobcat mother. I went through the entire water area just to get there :'D But I'd also love to see a video on the duck! I finally solved that one and it felt so great doing that on my own, I'm so bad at puzzles usually but all these have me enthralled

It was a hard decision to not watch your video, and instead chose to do the puzzles all by myself. But in the end, I'm glad I did because the reward for freeing those kittens was much more satisfying. I only have a few eggs left to find, but apparantly there's a lot more secrets to find than that. I wonder what this world still hides from me... Edit: I didn't even realise the cages and the codes were marked, I just played all the codes hoping one of them opened one of the cages lol

Those are actually all dogs. You can tell by the way it makes moewing sounds like a dog. The cats can be found in the area with the giant ghost cat. It howls and pants just like a cat would. The smaller cats are dangerous and can be pacified by throwing a Frisbee because cats loves frisbees.

There's no hint, no. It's just something you have to try. I didn't notice the fan in there for a long time. Then I was doing a run on stream and noticed it and looked around the entire room for a way to trigger it - finally finding the button under the water.

im surprised you omitted the fact that you can technically just play the song yourself (or maybe that's only in speedruns? i know when they do it the text box is wack so maybe its a glitch that you cant do on a normal run) although the fact that its like 50 notes long does make it a fresh hell to actually do

I omitted that because it's a completely different secret that is very important for layer 3's endgame. I'll be showing that in the video for *that.* This video is about the entire little "questline" to free the cats. I don't want people to skip the entire quest just by telling them, "yeah, just play these notes."

I couldn't for the love of me find the Cat X code. I had gone through every room at least 15 times and at one point I started using the pencil and marking the areas I've visited only to be left with the entire sewer system marked out. I thought of doing something else and coming back to it later but in these situations I just get so obsessive that I ended up googling it. Someone might think that I was finally at peace when I found it, and that's true, but there is also this huge feeling of disappointment that comes after realising I've been through that area so many times and yet I couldn't find the secret by myself. I hope that I won't get tempted to look at KZbin video again and instead try to solve the puzzles by myself. Nonetheless, thanks for the help!

Thanks very much. I made it private because there were a lot of complaints about me not showing the map for every egg, so I just finished doing that now and am re-uploading the improved version. It'll be out soon. The next video will be out tomorrow :) I'm putting a tremendous amount of work into these. Most people will not ever know just how hard I've been working.

I didn’t during my first playthrough. Then, while streaming my second playthrough, I noticed the fan. I knew there had to be a way to activate it in there, so just experimented. I’ve used every item in every single room in the game. It’s why I have over 200 hours in this game now, lol

How do I get past the swordfish in the northwest of the map?

Two methods: Method 1: Throw the disc at a wall behind you or on the previous screen. Jump on top of the disc as it is coming back to the left and ride all the way to the other side. You can also do a perfect disc throw (hold left, jump, and throw the disc just before the peak of your jump and you'll land on it immediately). Method 2: Use the bubble wand and do perfect bubble jumps all the way across.

I think you have to find the codes yourself for the cage to open, I freed the cats by copying the video and did not search the codes and once the lynx finishes the long song it flashes red and the cage won’t open

You input a note incorrectly then, which is easy to do. The cage 100% opens. Trust me, I do it all the time, and it’s used in the speedrun as well.

I don't get it, I rescued 5 cats, in the bobcat's room a happy tune starts playing (yellow bulbs), then in the very end I got an tune error (red bulbs) instead of an open cage😑 What am I doing wrong?

If you play the flute at all when you enter the room, you can interrupt the mother lynx singing and mess her up. Make sure you don't play any notes after rescuing the 5 cats.
