I have been freezing in glass canning jars for 30 years. I save my broth for future meals. Just gotta leave about 2.5 inches in 1 quart jars. Or, sometimes if Im too cheap to dump some out, I turn the jar on its side giving the broth more room to expand while freezing. Works every time. Wide mouth jars for sure.

Thanks hun, I used to do all this with my grandma and my mom but I needed to reassure myself that I was doing it right. You are very wise for such a young lady. Thanks again 😊😊🌹

Now I know why my jar broke. Thank you so much. I loved how you went into detail. I just found your channel but, I’m going to look through your previous videos to see what information you have. Have a wonderful day

Up till now, using glass has been out of the question for me - thinking glass would crack when frozen. My experience lately was my plastic containers cracked, and leaked out when defrosting in the microwave. Now, instead of running out to buy more, I reevaluated my assumption of glass and found your video. Fantastic, thanks.

Thank you for a very clear, no fluff video. Just recently learned you can freeze in mason jars. Will definitely be using your techniques!

Great video! Good advice, straight to the point with no fluff, good audio quality, and good visuals of the jars.

Just broke 2 milk jugs freezing raw milk 😪 I left room at the top, but not enough. And the milk was touching the bend in the bottle while it was a liquid. Do you think these tips will still work for milk jugs? Or only mason jars?
@ThisLittleFarmhouse3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say as every glass bottle is different. It may help your chances but all I have experience with is mason jars so no promises.

Are glass jars used to sell broth a good option for freezing broth?
@ThisLittleFarmhouse Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't know, I haven't seen broth sold in glass jars. I only have experience with Ball Jars so it would be up to you if you wanted to experiment. You just run the risk of the jars cracking.

Can you do this with raw milk, cold straight in the jar and then to the freezer
@jaymacdonald85332 жыл бұрын

@RosellaHomecare6 ай бұрын
Perhaps leave in the fridge first & then to freezer & do the same to defrost.
@chiptom64612 жыл бұрын
Did I miss something? No mention of freezer jars? They are quart jars designed for freezing (i.e., wide mouth with no shoulders). So, to state that there are only two choices would be incorrect. Correct?

When I take the Mason jars out of the freezer so they can thaw, they crack. I don't know why, they freeze well but when defrosting, they crack. I dont know what I'm doing wrong
@tamiajackson3 жыл бұрын
I saw a vid saying they have to thaw at room temperature
@CocoChanelle-13 жыл бұрын
Try also putting in the refrigerator to thaw out slowly.

Thanks for this ...I want to freeze but absolutely don’t want to create more plastic trash. Creating more plastic trash just seems to go against the whole healthy way of living with growing your own food.

No more than the chance of dropping a drinking glass on the floor. Mason jars also don't tend to shatter, they break in large pieces. Never dropped one yet 😀
