Tips for you and your video 1. The half-gallon jug does not need to be opened to pour some out before freezing, the plastic will expand to accommodate the expansion of the liquid once frozen. Plus, it's BEST to not open the container if you are trying to preserve it longer. 2. The use of it once thawed out extends twice the number of days you pointed out (3-4), you can consume it 6-8 days after thawed from freeze due to the fact that you did not open the container and the freezing of it stops the aging of the milk, therefore, extending its life after it is thawed.

can you freeze home made almond milk
@pablodumas944610 ай бұрын
@bettymartin6059, yes! You can freeze homemade almond milk, although the process may slightly alter its texture and appearance. Freezing can cause homemade almond milk to separate due to its natural fat and water content. However, it's still perfectly safe to consume and can be easily returned to its original state with a little effort. Here's how to freeze and thaw homemade almond milk: Freezing Homemade Almond Milk Containers: Use an airtight container or freezer-safe bags to store the almond milk. Leave some space at the top of the container as the liquid will expand when it freezes. Portion: Consider freezing in smaller portions or ice cube trays if you plan to use small amounts at a time. This way, you only need to thaw what you will use. Label: Mark the containers with the date of freezing. Homemade almond milk can be frozen for up to 6 months for the best quality. Thawing Frozen Almond Milk Refrigerator: The best way to thaw frozen almond milk is in the refrigerator. It can take several hours to a full day, depending on the quantity. Shake or Blend: After thawing, the almond milk might separate. Shaking it vigorously or blending it for a few seconds can help restore its creamy texture. Post-Thaw Considerations Texture Changes: Even after shaking or blending, the texture of thawed almond milk might be slightly different than its fresh state. It's still fine for use in smoothies, baking, or cooking. Taste Test: Before using thawed almond milk, especially in raw applications like cereal or coffee, give it a taste test to ensure the flavor meets your expectations. Shelf Life: Once thawed, use the almond milk within a few days, and keep it refrigerated.

Do you pour some of it out so when it freezes it will have head room? Not sure if milk needs to.
@MOMables4 жыл бұрын
chrisinedison I specifically mention to pour (or drink) some of it before you freeze it due to expansion.
@allisathompson4 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to pour some out if your milk is in the plastic jugs that have the indentations on the side. The indentations are there to give the milk head room when freezing.
@evelynd13552 жыл бұрын
Milk in plastic milk bottles don’t need to have some poured out. I regularly freeze 1/2 gallons of milk because I am disabled and can’t get to the store all the time. Just shake the milk during thawing or after thawing and it taste the same as if you hadn’t froze it. That saves money on gas too because you don’t have to constantly go to the store for it.

What if you don’t open it can u freeze it still
@kenhollandjr12518 ай бұрын
OK. Very nice. Two or three things if I may. The smaller the container of milk, the more it cost per ounce. Bottom line. If you don’t like big containers, save your smaller ones, rinse them out and leave space for expansion of the milk. She’s right about that. Also, if you save the cardboard milk containers, rinse them out, and you can put water in there, leave space, and you can have ice. Just crack all four sides on the floor, or someplace sturdy, wherever, be careful, not too hard at first till you get used to it. Better than having to buy ice, if that’s what you’ve been doing. You’ll figure it out. Leave space or expansion, just like the milk. I think it’s better than the old-fashioned trays, which I always ended up spilling all over the place before I got it in the freezer. No thanks. I don’t have an icemaker, like most people probably do. Have a good day.

i would definitely freeze milk in smaller portions. it would defrost faster for one thing and would be easy to add to recipes in measured increments. it seems to me, if you need to freeze milk instead of having to discard expired milk you are probably like me and not that big of a milk consumer. i often need it but only in small amounts. and in these inflationary times it really cuts down on food waste, as we all should be doing anyway.

I froze milk before, but as soon as its froze it turns yellow from different brands . Usually 2%...Did yours also?....
@MOMables4 жыл бұрын
Mike Theune turning yellow is a natural response by the proteins in milk separating from the riboflavin (B vitamins) which vary slightly by brand because of the types of cows but can also vary within the same brand by day because levels are different levels. It is still safe to drink. This is most often avoided with ultra pasteurized milk. You can still drink it!

If I put my heavy cream on the top shelf way at the back of my cheap apartment refrigerator unopened, I have had it last as long as six months (or even longer), without separating, beyond the expiry date without freezing. Same with Half-and-Half quarts and even a half-gallon of whole milk. I use Land O Lakes Heavy Cream and Half-and-Half in cardboard cartons with a pull-out plastic seal, and usually buy some kind of organic grass milk. Maybe I'm just lucky that it's a cheap refrigerator. Maybe it's the way they are sealed.... but the moment I open it it starts to behave normally and expire. I do not have my refrigerator set on the coldest setting, just to add. Maybe it's just right at the edge of being cold enough to last without freezing. However, this does not apply to a cheaper store brand of milk I buy at Walmart for baking. Can't say why. So I need to freeze it. I'm glad to have this video explain it so thoroughly so I can freeze and thaw it properly. Thank you so much! Excellent video!!

Do you see any problems with freezing milk in a 16oz water bottle? It would be worth going to Costco and paying $3.00 for the 40 bottles of water and just pout out the water. Don't forget to buy a small funnel also. This would give you a normal usable amount for whatever you were needing, just drinking or using in a recipe. Those bottles have the screw-on cap and not the caps that just snap on.
