Excellent tutorial. To get rid of plastic, you can store these in GLASS JARS from all sorts of previously-purchased foods like peanut butter, salsa, tomato sauce, etc. Simply dry the peas, put in a single layer to freeze individually and then transfer frozen pods to the glass jars. They stack, too, if you frequently buy the same salsa or other types of glass jarred foods! ❤️

Because I'm only cooking for one, I need frozen vegetables to be be free-flowing out of the bag, so that I can portion out just what I need for one meal. So at the stage you were at with the drying cloth I spread green beans, sliced leeks or other freezable vegetables on a tray on top of a non-stick foil liner, put the tray in the freezer for four hours, and then bag them up.

Yes! That works perfectly! Thanks for the tip! I especially like doing that method for berries so they don’t stick together.

@@TheCrunchyGinger Thanks! Since I'm here, how do you cook your sugar snaps? I don't like them too crunchy, so I parboil them in chicken stock for 3 minutes, drain, then stir-fry, adding a small dash of sesame oil and a tablespoon of oyster sauce at the end

That sounds delicious! I think my favorite way is to simply sauté them in butter or olive oil with some salt, pepper, and garlic. (Or add them to a stir fry of other yummy veggies like you!)

What do you use this for? Can this be eaten raw again? Or is it for some stir fry?
@TheCrunchyGinger2 жыл бұрын
Like most frozen veggies, the texture won’t be the same as raw after freezing. I like to sauté them in a little butter/oil, or add them to a stir fry or pasta dish.

Great suggestion! I also like using the silicone stasher bags in the freezer, but I don’t have very many of them yet.
