Berry farmer told me not to rinse strawberries or blueberries before freezing them

I honestly think people have different opinions on this. Either way is fine. Some people are using them frozen and don't want to rinse them before, some people don't care if they are rinsed or not. Some people rinse after and use them thawed, so it really is a matter of preference. I would consider it a 'best practice' to start with clean berries. And they do need to dry before proceeding for best results. But whether you rinse or not, is not a deal-breaker on how they turn out. Do what works best for you.

Not true. Certain mason jars, I use Ball, are safe to use for freezing. I have been using glass for years.

@@frybellevue so can I freeze the plain strawberries in my jars then? I have froze diced bell peppers like that and they were great. I did freeze them on trays first. I’m trying to not use all those plastic bags. I

I think you have done way too many steps to accomplish the same results. Why dry the berries, why do they need to be spaced apart? I find these steps are totally unnecessary. I've frozen strawberries many times and skipped these 2 steps with great success in having them turn out just as you have spending extra time and steps.

I’m so glad you’ve found a way that works for you! Thanks for sharing. For me, I don’t want to risk my berries clumping and sticking together, so that’s my why. And I really don’t mind the wait time. 😊
