With french, could you possibly do a couple coats of clear before the white and pink to build it up a little more if you're doing tips? Like how you can build it up a little on the tip with a regular color, but with clear instead. Hope that makes sense lol.

@@bobbiwoodward4056 honestly, kiara sky has a lot of fun colors but their solid colors tend to marble a bit. Their glitters are amazing though. And I'm not saying it's bad, you just have a bigger learning curve to help with the marbling effect. :)

My Revel dip liquids always dry too fast for me to pour over, much less wait 5 seconds in the white powder. Otherwise, I'm anxious to try this again. I just may use Makartt liquids or gel.

ImSoB0mb1 yes! Practice BEFORE you apply the base. Slide your finger into the white at diff angles to see where it hits for you. Then once you figure that out - do it with the base!

This is so freaking beautiful. Was that the Makarrtt dip tray you used or did it come with the kit? Also, it seemed that base didn't dry super quick, is that true? I need more time than what Sparkle & Co's base allows. I found a dealer that sold the triple vitamin base, so that is on the way. Thanks for explaining everything you do as you go along. I swear I skipped a step the other day LOL. Is there a time when you wipe it with alcohol or wash your hands?

Omneyas WISH thank you so much!! This dip tray comes with the revel French kit. The revel base is a bit slower drying which is amazing for French and ombré style nails. I usually disinfect my hands and nails before I start a mani and I will occasionally clean them off with alcohol after I’m done filing/buffing. You could wash your hands but still use the alcohol to remove any oils from soap 💜

I will tell u I have a WAY easier time with gel. I use poly gel and builder. Tried dip for the 3rd time and I hate it. It is so easy to file too much n ruin the color, also seems to show every single scratch from filing. Top coat is never super glossy like I get with gel. Idk it's frustrating because I would prefer dip as it's WAY faster. But after all my effort it turned out like shit. I am going to file it down and put gel polish on over the dip I think.

@@bethwhittington8179 ahh perfect. Ok, it does come down to personal preference but o have a top 3 faves for gel liquids. If you have a HEMA sensitivity or just wanna stay away from it, try Dipalicious. Otherwise, I also love nail addict and young nails gels. For the colors, my faves are iGel beauty baby powder (white) and medium pink.

Ok I know you aren't dipping on plain bare nails. What did u use prior to filming the French part? Clear? How many layers? Did u build the apex or just one or 2 coats of clear?

Hey love! So that will completely depend on your nails. If you have short nails or “active length” I don’t think it necessary to build an apex. For nails my length or longer, an apex can be smart to avoid breakage. I like to do a simple 3/4 dip in clear first. Then a full coat. Then proceed with the French design!

@@MarlaKris thank you! Tried dip for the 3rd time today (I'm a gel girl) and had to scroll through an watch another vid of yours so I did build the apex. I don't know what to do, I filed, gently and it still took out big gouges from the color. It also shows EVERY little file mark and is all ridged n looks awful. Not sure what I can do to solve this. Never have any issues like this with gel. This is definitely faster, so I'd prefer something like this. But not if I can't get it to look good.

Yes and no lol you just have to chose colors wisely. A sheer pink or clear doesn’t play well with gel. And you have to be super gentle with the white application.

Gorgeous! So I have a question. Have you had your nails really thin out due to dip powder? I had the tip of one of my nails peel away under my dip powder nail! It was "snaggy" and so I took tweezers and tore it off. I'm new to dip. Did I do something wrong? Is there a product that can help strengthen the nail? Only happened on the one nail. And yes, my nails have always been thin and peeling....but didn't expect this to happen. Thank you!

So - here’s what I’ve found happens to me and my nails (as you know - we’re all different with nail chemistry etc) - so my nails got thin during my days at the salon bc they were being seriously over filed. Since I stopped filing my nails (I don’t file or buff my naked nails) they’re stronger than ever and I do my nails literally every other day! My best advice for strengthening nails is 1- don’t file or buff and 2- cuticle oil. Oil and massage promotes nail growth (I recently did an experiment with this that you’ll see SOON) so I’d start there! Of course - feel free to email me if you need further help bc you’ll get lost in my comments. 💜
