It’s amazing how well and clear you explain things, very very VERY well done man! I am 34 from Milan, Italy, and I am skating from a couple of years now. I love transitions and i spend a lot of time doing miniramp. I have a solid bs axle stall and I am trying and trying and trying on fs axle stall. Sometimes I do it clearly, sometimes I hang with the back truck on the copping and I fall. I still can’t understand this: during bs axle stall is safer to shift the back truck toward the ramp (and you demonstrate it on the dedicated video), but I can’t understand why when doing the fs axle stall we need to drop back in without shifting the back truck into the ramp. My back truck often hang to the copping when trying fs axles, it never happens when trying bs axle because i push the back truck against the copping. Any help would be very appreciated... keep going with the great job!
@trogarmy

So the reason you are lapping over the deck into a hang up is from no being enough into ramp as you turn in. If you are to on top of the deck as you lift and turn you will slip into a rock more than often. You really have to start throwing your body weight starting with the head and shoulder, in and down into the transition. You will probably be doing a micro pressure ollie in it will feel like. Remember to pivot on the back heel as well lots of kids I teach keep the weight on the toes for the stall to long also causing the hang up. Hope that helps soldier!

Why don't you go to the toe side of the back truck to avoid catching similar to how I think you're supposed to be on your healside while dropping in after a backside stall?

The bail out pattern is helpful. I didn't think I was going to need it but I did not get my front foot enough away from my board. It carried it away behind me and real pulled on the tendon the inside of my knee. I feel it could of been worse. I will be practicing it for now on. It hurt.

Awesome vid, thanks Trog! And thanks for all the vids, super helpful how you break em down. I'm battling this right now and keep eating it. Do you have a tip on shifting your weight from inside the ramp to up top on the coping?
@trogarmy
@trogarmy 2 жыл бұрын
Great question and if you like to send me a video to check out just hmu @trogarmy on insta. however lets see if we can troubleshoot this issue. Have you learned... a straight roll out by rocking out? a straight roll out by bonking back wheels? a straight blunt roll out? fs roll out? where you bonk back wheels and turn 90 frontside? Frontside slasher? If you can do all those and are pretty consistent then it seems like the timing of the trick is off. lots of people push down on their toes and the balls of their feet while turning frontside, instead of pivoting on the back heal. This creates a slip down to palms a lot of the time, and hope fully it never turns to a chest, arm pit or throat or jaw smash but i have seen all that. Pump up the ramp do a late fs slasher lock in back truck smash down front truck then press on toes to stall and deck front side make sure heal side wheels are both locked in. Shift back on the heals, twist, spot landing and point and look where you want to go. I hope this helps on your journey. If you have more questions. send them over!

Hey @@trogarmy thanks for the really nice reply man ✌I'm outta action with a knee thing for the month or so ... but yup I can do all that apart from the blunt roll out. And I got the fs axle-in down the other day (just before I twisted my knee 😂) Thanks for the tips on the fs axle-in man, that's awesome advice! My thing is that the board goes flying up over the coping and I crash back into the ramp which really sucks. I had the same thing when I was learning bs axle-stalls. I've kinda got fs smiths down. Maybe it's just practice ... I'll send you a vid if I get one where I eat it again :) Cheers buddy, and thanks again!

@@shanemcnallie yes I have got it now, I just set myself up on top of coping and went for it , lean back on your heel and look under your armpit at bottom of ramp where you want to go , I over exaggerated the sort of hop you need to do , don't do that it will come naturally, just pad up and go for it, everytime you fall you will feel what your doing wrong and you will have it in no time , took me about 20 times with a few slams but mostly run outs , doing it on the exhale really does work , you've got this , I'm 45 and started skating last August, watch these videos over and over again, I'm nearly landing frontside disasters thanks to the art of ram , just go for it👍👍👍👍

@@shanemcnallie it took me a while , just go for it , step off ,do the same again, eventually you will feel the heel and lean back motion , and be able to go , first few times you will probably bail but then you will get it , one thing keep doing it once you get it as I had to relearn it because I didn't have it consistently, you've 100% got this

On vert you have to get low to lock in but yes once you are locked in on top you can drop past the vert and roll away. i personally don't do stand up fs axels on vert i will do fakie fs 5050 or frontside pivots. its not really a good set up trick. now a fs 5050 grind that is a different story...

not enough pressure on the heel when initiating the drop-in, not enough weight in the transition (get low, ass to the flat!), not enough commitment (mini hop). I just learned them myself. Those are the things I had to concentrate on.
