Excellent video instruction, thank you. My IC-7200 was bought in South Africa, and except for D60, all diodes D48 to D64 were in place. I removed D48, D49, D51, D52 and D55, so that my board now looks like yours. I hope to make some 60m FT8 contacts tonight :-) Side note: An ICOM technician told me that the Europan version of the IC-7200 only needs D59 removed to open up TX on 60m from 5.225 - 5.405 MHz. (Euro-01 Version.) 73 Chris ZS1DX

Thank you! Hi, If you do the mod in the video it should have no problem TXing on 60m... I'm not sure how you would modify it to ONLY open 60M. One thing you can try is to check mods.dk. You can go to the 7200 and see what mods are recorded there..

I did the mod and now I have no sound. Speaker is plugged back in correctly and I did a factory reset. Also when I TX the screen backlight goes off and the radio won’t tune with my tuner. Any ideas? Thanks

I was thinking about picking up an IC-R75 just for listening, but am now thinking about spending a couple hundred more and getting this transceiver. I only plan to listen for now, but hey, I may want to get on the air some day.. Would I be making a mistake by spending the extra money for a transceiver? If I get a receiver, I'd like it to be a nice one, like the IC-R75 or maybe a Drake SW8... I plan on using it on my sailboat here in the Pacific Northwest and on a trip to Hawaii this summer for weatherfax and whatnot.. Nice video; Getting good shots of working on stuff like this is very difficult! Travis

Yeah to 2nd what he said... If you're looking to be at sea... A transceiver for sure. Never know what will happen. There's a lot of options out there. But a 7200 would do you just fine.

I'll go the opposite side and say for receive you can't find any better than the R75. I own both and the R75 is better than the 7200 on receive. At least mine is. Since all you'll find is used equipment from now on your mileage will vary.

I think it was around 350-400C. It needs to be pretty hot so you're not holding it on there for a week to get it to melt. Thanks for the comment!.. :-)

I was so unimpressed by my 718 that I gave it to a CBr who was studying, and is now licensed to use it, so I doubt I'd like the 7200. Thank you for replying.

@@cedarridge3020 IKR... I know somebody who had a 718 and we used to tease him for using his "Entry level" radio. But in all honesty over the air, you'd never know it. It had just as good of a sound as the more expensive rigs.. It's just not as pretty to look at! 😂
