Basically these are all known things to me, but your way of explaining with lot of inspirations make me to re-look at what I already know. Every video is so priceless. Thank you Alisa. You are a great teacher.

I've been watching your tutorials for weeks and only just realised I hadn't subscribed🤦 Thanks so much for your easy to understand explanations. Would love to see a full tutorial on how to draft and sew a pleated skirt with variations.

I’ve played with a ruffler to do pleats and gathers. It works great on longer pieces that you can cut longer that you need, like a ruffle on a blouse. I’m still learning what all it can do! I do want to try the flounces for a sleeve. So pretty!

Thanks, as ever, for a great video. I love a pleat for skirts. For me and my shape they are more flattering than gathers. I haven't come across flounces before so am going to give that a go.

I love the raglan top with those "triple" sleeves. I'm going to try to create something similar for myself and possibly for my girls too ☺️
@ThoughtfulCreativity2 жыл бұрын
Oh oh, remember that lemon fabric you commented on some time ago? I made another triple sleeve top for Artemis, I just haven't shared it yet (I will make a Members Post sometime soon) - she loves it. If raglan sleeve is a bit too much, you can always do a regualr triple flutter sleeve - that will give you somewhat similar result! :)

@@ThoughtfulCreativity I bet that looks lovely on her. I am planning to get some flowy fabrics, some with dinos too 😃 and I might try that raglan sleeve, because I like to challenge myself.

If your fabric won’t be damaged, sew one row of gathering at 1/2 inch and the other at 3/4 inch, I.e. 1/8 inch above and below the seam line. I find the gathers lay more nicely and evenly. After attaching, remove the second line of threads. With some fabrics, the holes will remain even after washing, so you need to know your fabrics or try a sample. I also sew zigzag over elastic thread, and then pull the elastic.

This works really well with water soluble thread at the 3/4 inch seam. Truly magic 🎉

I thrifted a jean jacket and long lace skirt. I have always wanted a lacey jean jacket. I have 3-4 inch grosgrain ribbon I thought I would sew the lace on and use the technique to make make ruffles. Then open the bottom seam of the jacket (it’s 100% cotton) and bind it into it. The band of the skirt is perfect for the cuffs no need to cut them off. I might change my mind when I get started but that’s my plan right now.

I love your plan - sounds fun and exciting, especially creating a garment that you really want!

@@ThoughtfulCreativity I’m nervous but I thought getting a 100% cotton jacket would be easier to handle than thick denim.
@ThoughtfulCreativity2 жыл бұрын
@@shellylemons great thinking, denim can be thick, especially going through 2 or more layers of it.

When pulling stitches to gether, it's easiest to pull on the bobbin thread.

Enjoy your videos tremendously! I bought my granddaughter a denim dress that is too small but her mom let her wear it with a dress underneath now I need to do something so she can wear the dress! Any suggestions? Thanks.
@ThoughtfulCreativity2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can cut it down the side seam and insert a strip of denim or contrasting fabric to increase the size of the dress. It can also be a thick lace, or some fun embellished fabric and I add a character to the dress

Gathering is easy when it’s a short piece of fabric.The problem is the the looong one😅.
@ThoughtfulCreativity Жыл бұрын
I hear you! A few things that might help - there is a gathering foot (I just gather manually, but some people really like the gathering foot), you can also gather on a serger, and 2 lines of longest stitches give a nice an even result on longer pieces :)
