AppliancePartsPros Rule zero, sir/ma'am: "always check the connections." Turned out the bulb was bad, but we started by replacing the switch so in the end it all got fixed. =]

My switch broke when a jar fell off a high shelf and smashed it off. This is a very easy repair. Make sure you UNPLUG the fridge before working on it. The switch is in series with line voltage!

That worked great! Although I had a heck of a time prying my old switch out until I figured out to wiggle the top out first.

Short video and it explained exactly how to replace the switch so thanks. I first checked out the bulb with an multi-meter for continuity and it was OK so ordered the switch and now I'm going to replace it next.

The cable for my switch did not pull out of the housing the bad switch disconnected but I can't install it because of the short cable and I don't know what cable goes to which pole. Trying to figure how to open the side to get more cable length.

Would this be the cause of a dimmed LED light strip? I took out the strip and tested the lights with a 9v battery and they were fine, but when they're in the refrigerator they're extremely dim.

It is possible yes. What is the model number of your refrigerator and we can look and see what else might cause the issue.

What is causing my door to swing fully open. I have to hold it.

Maybe the legs at bottom of the frame. Adjust length so front is higher. Door will swing back.

MY LIGHT WENT OUT BECAUSE I DUMMY WAS BREAKING A BAG OF ICE ON THE EDGE OF THE FREEZERS INSIDE AND THEN NOTICED MY LIGHT WENT OUT. CAN IT BE THE LIGHT SWITCH OR SOMETHING ELSE? I HAVE PUT IN A NEW SWITCH AND NO GOOD.

So, was it the refrigerator light that went out when you broke the ice inside the freezer? Have you tried replacing the bulb itself? If a bulb is jostled enough, it can be damaged, even if it doesn't look visibly broken.

I have had a lightbulb 💡 in my GE Refrigerator since 2002. Today it's Oct 6th, 2023. Replaced bulb, still not coming on, so glad I found your video. Will be getting back with you tomorrow to let you know if I have any success changing our The Button Switch. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼 TYVM
