I noticed all of the things you mentioned as well. Music is such a small net which gets ignored by the mighty algorithm, especially for me since I am doing metal. How to videos naturally cater to a much wider audience so it's much easier. Simply put, in today the more relatable your content is the better it will do and a specific Genre of music is not relatable. However, I think one you start with that content you can't really pivot back to music. The subscribers you picked up will not be interested in your music. If you want to create a music channel its probably better to just stick with music, unless of course you want to do other content. As an older musician dating back to the myspace days, it was FAR easier to get noticed as a musician. After a 10 year hiatus from music I feel like the music realm has shifted so much. Anyways, Thank you for sharing and wish you the best!

Hi mate, I'm trying to do the same. managed to get to 450 in 3 months so far. A lot of work involved, a lot more than most think. It has its ups and downs but its true what they say, keep consistent, keep posting content that's relevant and hopefully you will get the video that hits the algorithm just right. I'd love to get to 1000 by the 6 month mark but it all depends. Your right about Damien though, his growth has been so quick in such a small amount of time. I'm pretty sure he was on 80k when I subscribed in March time

As a song writer I really struggle with the consistency point. I have just started this channel (short cinematic music) and my other channel is more band focused music (soft rock), with just over 400 subs. My highest video on that channel is 30k views. However, if I write a song a week I’m lucky, let alone produce, mix and master it lol. So is a musicians channel doomed from the beginning? Great content though! I will watch some more (I’m basically proving the trickle down effect point 😂

Although this video is about 3 years old, I've just seen it so that's proof that old videos still get views! Ed, I ended up on this video searching for more music production centric KZbin growth. I do watch Nick Nimmin and like a lot of what he says, just is not always applicable to a music based channel. I did like your comments about pivoting. I finally had a video get hot this year and my channel started growing quite a bit, though it eventually faded and I have yet to recapture the magic. It has taken a lot of wind out of my sail, but not completely. Trying to figure out what direction I need to go to get it going again. Thanks for the video, perhaps camera time and instructional videos might be a way to go moving forward.

Hi Brian. I have never replicated the success of my ‘One Hit Wonder’ despite trying with about 100 videos since 🤣 Historically though, I will never match the coincidental timing of this video being released when every musician in the world is suddenly gigless and in lockdown wondering which interface they should buy to record their long over due solo projects with… What’s the link to your big video?
@BrianJilgMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@EdThorne Hi Ed, I too like you have not quite replicated the success. I had 3 videos doing well at one point, but they have calmed down a lot. My "biggest" video still gets consistent traffic, but not as much and not the same amount of subscribers either. I decided to monetize the track with identifyy and perhaps that has killed it. There’s definitely merit to buying views and subs. First of all, you can get partnered and monetized quickly. Secondly, ppl wanna watch videos from someone with subs and views already, not some KZbin noob. Lastly, the engagement tricks the algorithm to push your content. Ultimately, these all lead to more genuine views, subs, and ad revenue.

Don't delete older videos not relevant to new strategy because you delete the watch hours associated with them! Provide education - Nope - Pivot to music production education - Still nobody cared - Been there, done that. Okay, pivot again. Gear reviews? Boring! The video that took off was what? Budget Interface vs Professional Interface = 2000 views per day. Why? Why ? Why? Purchase traffic? No. Was it a Fluke - Yes!, but . . . . . Yet another total accident like so many I have researched. Exponential growth is the key but how do you find the "fluke?" YOuTube is self fullfilling - Success breeds success. EXPONENTIAL GROWTH IS THE KEY BUT YOU HAVE TO FIND THE RIGHT FIRST ONE.
