i watched this sometime during the week before i took the exam, and although i only had a couple days left to study, this really helped! my advice to anyone taking APES: study!! the biggest reason the passing rate for this exam is so low is because they don’t study for the test and they think they know everything but they definitely do not. i got a low B every quarter in the class but i studied my butt off and ended up getting a 4 on the exam, so if i can do it, you can too!!

Barron’s generally covers more content and has more difficult review questions when it comes to the math and science AP classes- which is a good thing because it “over-prepares” you in a way for the exam :)

+Ryan Bada I honestly am not sure how good the Barron's is since I never used it, but I just went by my friends' recommendations and got the PR. I think whichever one you get should be fine, but definitely get the green book! I got a 5 with the PR & the green book so I think it's up to you which one you want to get. Good luck!

I know I sound stupid, but where does math come into this course? At my school it requires you to take algebra 2 to get into the class.

my teacher calls do then "do the math". I guess the math is mostly for the FRQS. You will need to do dimensional analysis. No calculators sadly, so brush up on your long division and mulitplying decimals and whole numbers. Know metric units. on a previous exam, some people got a question wrong sine they didn't know what mega met.

Also you need to know how to do percent efficiency, rule of 70, finding the population growth rate and converting decimals and to percent and vice versa.

@@JJ-dx6eb I have heard really bad things about chemistry, but I haven't taken it myself. My environmental test was pretty easy I thought. The class wasn't great, we had a substitute a lot of the time because the teacher had health problems. I think if I was ok under my less than ideal circumstances, someone with a good teacher who wanted to do well should be fine in AP environmental.

I used the 2015 books and got a 5 last year so I think its fine :) Usually prep book companies reuse a lot of the same material from past years, so idk if the year makes a huge difference or anything. idk if this helps or anything, but good luck!

+Joyce Hong I'd recommend u take lots of practice tests to find out your weak areas and then study the hell out of those. Also, practice as many FRQs as u possibly can. When u do this, use the released frqs on the college board website. And make sure to get rlly good at the math frqs because they're very systematic, so will be easy points on the exam once u understand the basic concepts of them. When u study for the scientific parts of the frqs and u need examples, I'd recommend finding a few that could apply to a lot of different scenarios. When u write your frq answers, try to use as much of the APES terminology as possible bc it shows that u know tf youre talking about. Lastly, try not to stress that much. The exam was a lot easier than what I thought it would be, and if u study effectively you'll totally kick ass!!

I have it and read through and it seems pretty good for APES, but it's also really detailed and since there's only a few days left you should probably do something shorter like watch videos, do practice exams, or just look at the pollution part of the book if you're really low on time.

It’s honestly a free AP as long as you study for the exam atleast 2 months in advance, the concepts are mostly easy to grasp as related to real life which makes it easy, the only thing I found hard was the unit that covered plate tectonics and wind patterns but the rest of the units were easy I usually got like a high B or A on the tests

I’ve never heard of IGSCE but my freshman year I took AP human geography and it really helps because it’s probably the easiest AP class but it prepares you with the tests and quizzes and free response that will be on AP classes the rest of your high school years. I’m a rising senior and taking 6 AP classes online so it’s good to prepare early, I recommend AP human

yep!! but it’s not a full dbq, it’s relatively short question since you have to answer two synthesis questions and a data-set question along with the dbq question in the allotted 90 mins :^) i haven’t taken the test yet, but i have done practices and the dbq question was just a short informative article with a series of questions afterwards, which pertained to information in the article and drawing off of skills like the ability to create food webs!!!
