Your beard and mustache is the most awesome well groomed and maintained beard. This shows how much you care for yourself Eric. You can be a barber and start a new business on men's grooming. I'm serious not joking..!! I have become a big fan of yours though I'm from India.

That looks great Eric! Keep it up! (Well, so to speak haha) You should either host a Beardbrand beard competition. Accept like the first 100 entries of a picture of the bearded brethren, holding a Beardbrand product (to show authenticity), and have a survey where we get to vote. Or do a compilation video of a bunch of our pictures. I understand both would be difficult, but it is a fun idea to entertain. dmiller661 I agree. It is nice to see another beardsman with long hair.

Trim the neck line until your beard is long enough that it grows beyond it, then lower the line as your beard grows over it. Eventually, it'll be long enough that carving a line nobody will ever see just doesn't make any sense. Also, don't trim the sides if you can. Brush them down straight out of the shower, then again after you've conditioned/oiled/balmed or whatever you normally do.Trimming the sides looks neat and tidy at first, but you'll regret it when your beard gets longer, as you'll now have short patches on the sides.

For the past year I've watched your videos, company development and also saw you on Shark Tank BTW. Anyway, I decided to grow out my beard into a long style just to see what it looked like. I actually played Santa for Christmas which was cool. However, I decided for the rest of next year to cut it back. My beard is a little shorter than yours now. I really like the clean look, I'm actually happier with it that way. I'll begin to grow it out again for Christmas in August but for now the shorter is best for me. BTW, I live in Vietnam where 99% of the men cannot grow ANY facial hair, so imagine the fun I have AND the beard envy. Thanks again for your vids, advice and your balanced commentary. BTW, I think the new shorter look for you is great! It actually looks fuller and thicker. Cheers! Paul from Vietnam

Eric, first, great video. My favorite channel, no joke. Keep it up! Next, I started growing my beard November 12 2014. I have not trimmed it nor the mustache. This is my first time growing it and I am loving the experience. My wife calls my beard the third person in the room because I try to take the best care of it. Beard oils, acitate combs, boar brush...etc. The only problem is that my mustache is really thin. Is it my genes, or am I doing something wrong? I would really like some guidance from the beard gurus. Have a great day and beard on!

Looking good! I'm thinking 'bout trimming my 4 month beard for the first time (especially on the sides and sideburns) since it doesn't look very clean cut right now (to say the least). Do you have problems with scents stuck in your beard? I hear that quite often, but never had problems with it yet. Even when my beard smelled from the last cigarett I've had, washing it makes it as good as new for me.

Love your videos, man! I use clippers to trim the beard, but I must say it is hard once it's grown the length you (and I) have it. Even if you use the highest number, which will cut the least, it will cut A LOT and it's all because not every hair is perfectly standing up. I've made some mistakes with that.... the scissors do look cool, though, and I'd like to get a pair eventually. Cheers, brother!

There are 2 schools: 1) no trimm untill you have lengh that you want to and start trimming afer that to control lenght and make beard more density 2) Trimm, trimm, trimm... but really: will I get yeard lenght ever trimming all single hair outstanding?

Beard looks dope bro, I really liked it when it was longer, but you kill this style too. Props for being able to do it yourself. How long did it take you to perform the trim? This was my first trim I ever had going into the barbershop. Normally I do it myself; so I can't take credit for this trim. I think if you just shoot for 10 to 15 minutes a day for 2 or 3 days, you can get your beard looking it's best. Just do small trims over a few days until you get to your point you are satisfied.

Look real good brother. Noticed from the start. Quick question, is it normal to lose hairs from your beard everyday? I lose about 5-7 hairs a day. I don't notice my hair thinning but I heard it's normal. Has this happened to you? I also do see the bulb at the end of my hair.
@VindicusVore

it's normal man, not too different from shedding hair from your head, but if it's an excessive shedding, i.e. big clumps/handfuls/brushfuls/combfuls, you've either got a latent health issue or you have too much stress

Philip Martin I would imagine your mustache can handle a few tissues. They are quite tough indeed. If you can try to catch the sneeze before it happens. That way you can guide the goo into the tissue and not the stache.

I'm not sure you answer in a 1-year old video, but I'll ask anyway. How did you trim your moustache ends? I can't find any tutorial/video about it (only some where ppl trim their moustache to the lip line which I don't like) and I know that it's really easy to mess the moustache up :P When to trim a beard? After straightening (I watched your video, it's awesome), after putting some products or not? I have curly beard and it's crazy to "catch" the hairs that I want to trim, they just curl, but I see that they look bad. You told to trim some and wait a couple days. I'm now thinking of shaping my neck hairs like you showed in the video, but it'll be hard, because every time I brush my beard it looks a little different and I won't know when to stop trimming :D Do you have any idea how to watch trimming my beard's side? Front is easy, because I can see it in the mirror, but side? It's harder, especially back side and one time I trimmed my beard's side it looked different than I wanted to be, than I saw it in the mirror. I mean it's different when some people look at my face in profile than I saw it in the mirror when I was trimming :P

+Andrzej Sitko Hey man, I'm sure Eric will weigh in at some point too, but I figured I'd jump in to answer some of these questions for you! Mustache trimming is tricky, especially if you want to do something like a longer handlebar style. One way to go about this is to use a pair of trimming scissors - you'll want to lift up the edges of your mustache and use the scissors to clip away flyaways and stray hairs that aren't exactly following the direction of your mustache curl. Trimming the whole beard - I prefer no product. If your hair is a little drier, it won't be weighed down by product and will be easier to comb up, and really see what you need to trim. Same reasoning barbers will wash your hair before a haircut. Side trimming is pretty straightforward - you can either brush your sides up with a comb or boar's hair brush and again use the scissors or beard trimmer to cut down the stray hairs, or you can actually use a beard trimmer attachment guide to trim down the length and taper it into your longer sections in your beard. Hope that helps, and beard on! -Zach

Great pointers Eric, I started to use scissors instead of just reaching for the beard trimmer about 8 month ago now , also when I did go to the barber's last ' I noticed that he was trimming my beard just using scissors so I asked him if he preferred to use scissors over the trimmer 😂. And he went on for about half an hour how he finds trimmers Just annoying .

+Beardbrand I am having a problem with a very curly beard. The length is all the same when combed after a shower, however, throughout the day my beard drastically curls in the areas closer to my neck. Thus, creating a varying length/unkempt look that bothers me! Do you have any suggestions? I use beard oil infused into beeswax. Thanks!

+Michael McCormick Have you figured it out how to deal with it? I have the same problem, I'm thinking of shaping it a little, but with curly hairs it's really hard to "catch" the hairs that I want to trim. And yes, the beard looks different every time I comb it... so I never know when I should trim and when is enough.

+Andrzej Sitko Yes, two solutions. 1) trim the chin part of your hair to match curly neck hair when dry or 2) use a flat iron on the curly hairs to straighten then wet and comb out/blend, usually stays until next shower. Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

Awesome video, I know this is off topic of the video, but I have a question. Does the Kevin.Murphy shampoo and conditioner work for curly hair? I know Sebastian said that you should buy S&C for your specific hair, I was just wondering.

blueknight1109 He's got multiple lines of shampoo and it sounds like Luxury Wash would be the line you'd want for curly hair: kevinmurphy.com.au/product/luxury-wash/

I hate trimming my beard, but my beard loves a clipping so I do it anyway. Any way your beard looks great as always. My rule of thumb is the mustache to beard ratio. If you can grow an epic 'stash then grow an epic beard. If you grow a weak, small mustache then have a smaller beard. Breads without mustaches are weird by the way. I been with a beard for 15 months now and I must say I cant imagine myself without it now. Love this thing!

Gabriel Ricks Ya, bearded life is definitely better than beardless life (at least in my book). I also agree with your sentiment about big beards having big mustaches. But I've seen some donegals (no mustaches) that look cool.

Would you trim your beard as far as maintenance when yearding?
@Beardbrand
@Beardbrand 10 жыл бұрын
mjm55 When I grew my beard out when going for the beard, I did not trim up at all. But it really depends on what your long term goals are. There is no right or wrong, but simple preferences. I'd say if growing for length, then it's probably best to avoid trimming for as long as possible.

littleworldscollide Ya, it's a tough thing. I just talked with a guy who had a bad deal at a barbershop. The longer you have your beard; the more flexible you'll have with it because you know it'll grow back. Life is about risks and in the world of beards; growing a beard back out isn't the worst thing to do.
