hey man!! I agree somewhat with the trimmed stache but the stache is all about personal preference. IMO having a trimmed stache gives the beard a much cleaner finish. Same with the neck beard Ive tryed leaving the neckline untrimmes and it works but IMO thats personal prefenence. I think these tips apply to people that want the biggest beard possible and dont care about how it looks.

Hey man, absolutely - and this is only my opinion and if anyone does different, it doesn't mean they are doing it wrong. Great point on the angle - this is definitely coming at it from growing the biggest and longest beard (definitely should have mentioned that at the start). When I'm rocking a shorter beard I do everything you've mentioned too.

My method for a wiry grey beard like mine is to pat it with a towel after showering, but don't dry it. Add beard oil, then use a heated brush. Works great for me. Every beard is different, but I love my soft, smooth silver.

About time I get a trim. My beard reached 6 months, kinda as long as yours in this. I use this beard and face wash, then beard and face lotion, then beard oil and beard balm. I put the excess lotion and oil on my head hair. I believe they are all under the same brand, though different from what you use. When I did my yeard, I used NO beard wash, lotions or oils. BIG MISTAKE! I was young and poor back then. I have no intention of doing another yeard, but having proper maintenance is amazing.

I definitely recommend Bull dog beard oil and shampoo. The difference on how my beard feels without them is unruly. $5-10 State side. Oil lasts two months with a long beard. 6 months with a short beard. Shampoo would be a bottle every month or two.

Hello! First of all: That's a really good looking beard. 👍 I've been wearing a beard myself for the last 25 years or so but I've always kept it at a length of only about 1.5 - 2 cm. However, a couple of weeks ago I got the idea of growing my moustache (not directly above the lips but at the sides) in order to be able to create a handlebar. Everything worked out fine and now I have got what I imagined. But now the point has come where it has to be shortened a bit. Unfortunately I am not sure how to actually do it. Shall I comb it downwards and trim it, sideways and trim it, curl it into handlebar position and trim it... ? Maybe you have a good tip for me. I would really appreciate any kind of advice. 🙂 Sorry for my English. I'm from Austria, so it's not my first language.

My beard is approaching 2 years now. When I first started and got tips on KZbin it was all trim the neck and the cheeks, but I found that my neck doesn't even grow that low. It stays at right about the adam's apple. The cheeks. The first time I tried to trim that and make that line, I messed it up so bad that I shaved my whole beard off and started over. Now I don't even touch it really. I did just once, but it just grows naturally with a natural line there. There's really no need to trim it. (I think I trimmed it too low, as he mentions in the vid.) I like my mustache trimmed though, otherwise I think it makes me look older if I don't, and I don't want to look older. :) The sideburns... omg I did that so bad until, thankfully, my brother, who doesn't even have a beard and can't grow one told me, nah, bro that looks dumb. So now I hit it with a trimmer and guard every now and then. Though, the problem here is you can ruin the sidebeard length if you're not careful. It's still a learning process for me. Kent comb!
@Beardster
@Beardster 8 ай бұрын
We've all been there with the cheekline...my hair grows to my eyes so I need to keep that in check. On the moustache - and everything I say, it's only my subjective view - I know plenty of guys who hate the long and bushy moustache look. Sideburns are a big one - kudos to your bro! And a solid kent comb is a winner.

I wish barber's would know about this. 90% barber's I encountered just straight up do the same style on everyone. I like to call it setsquare beard. Short sidebeard, no neckbeard. Unless I specifically tell them to NOT cut it cause I want full long beard they always do it. Forgot about this last time and said to my barber that I want to shorten it a bit so it looks fuller. Now my sidebeard and neckbeard is basically gone. Well... 2-3 months of grows went down the drain. Keep safe folks. Make sure you and your barber have the same vision for your beard

3:36 It sounds like you're talking about a "Riker Beard" as seen on Star Trek: The Next Generation. They once had an episode where they discovered an identical Riker as the result of a transporter accident who was trapped alone on a planet. The makeup department wanted him to look a bit rougher so they filled in his cheeks and his beard looked so much better than the "real" Riker. I will say that low cheeklines aren't ideal, but they don't ruin a beard the way a high neckline does.

Good combs like Kent or Chicago, anything like that make such a huge difference especially over time. Cheap combs essentially have tiny knife edges all over the place, the damage from that over time can really compound in a way that its far more then simply worrying about pulling hairs. Might seem silly to pay 10-15$ for a single comb but its soooo worth it, and most the better ones can last a life time so its not as expensive as it sounds. Also just for me personally, with heating a blow dryer is nice but i didn't ever get results i was hoping for until i found a good brush with low temp settings, i would say for me that was biggest game changer outside of what otherwise should be good daily maintenance practices like oil.

I'm a big fan of male facial hair, and I think you make some excellent points about proportion. Having said that, my personal opinion is that you've got way too much hair on your head. EVERYTHING is bushy - hair, neck, cheeks. I don't get to see your eyes, your shoulders look smaller. By all means, please yourself, just realize that some of your 'rules' may well be a turn off, even to women who enjoy bearded men.
