When I do your exercises, my voice transforms from a rickety pirate ship into an aircraft carrier, and I can sing notes from C4-C5 with a kind of effortless confidence that would be unthinkable before. What blows my mind is this is all apparently warms up and technique, nurture rules, not nature.

OK so I'm practicing this over and over and I have this kind of Pavarotti/operatic quality when I do the chesty NAY, it sounds kind of bombastic, like a big fat biker or something, particularly when I add a tad of fry. So I'm using it to do the song Bad Company, where the song is mostly in mid-mix. It sounds really good but I'm limited to just NAYing the song right now because when I go to consonants, it tends to go back to old habits. What I need to do is run though your exercise completely every day, then do Bad Company once, being super careful not to go back to the old way. The good news is I think this song is going to come out really good, albeit not like the original, when I try Karaoke.

Hi Leman, there are a million voice videos on KZbin, but yours is the best. I have a question that I'm sure a lot of other watchers of your video probably do to. To me it seems that, with much proper practice, we will be able to do your voice exercises within the range of our voices. Once we can do that fairly well, can you give us a melody line to try to sing. I presume singing vowel and consonant words will be much more of a challenge. Being new to vocal lessons, I thought that would give us a good measuring stick to determine how well we are coming along.

But I can't cleary understand at what we're referring to when talking about thinning our voice. Should i gradually move from my chest to my falsetto, while trying to keep the same low larinx position?
@lemandoeslogic2261 Жыл бұрын
If you need to do this at first thats ok but we are aiming on not flipping into falsetto. When I say thing out our voice I mean literally using a thinner part of our vocals cords which is also easier while becoming more brighter in the mask as we go up. I would consider watching my medium mix video this uses more mask than chest as a demo

@lemandoeslogic2261 Жыл бұрын
I’m not super familiar with Chicago besides a few songs but from what I’ve heard I would definitely say he utilizes more of a “medium mix” as opposed to a “full mix” more of a 50/50 or or maybe even closer 70/30 mask to chest ratio. Someone like Michael buble for example would be more of a full mix and more like 75/25 chest to mask ratio if that makes sense.

You've earned a like and a sub. I don't know if you're still reading this, but is this way of singing tiring for the voice? I mean, stilistically in can be very cool to mimic opera with that lower-placed larynx, but is it sustainable for the voice? Is it for all tenors? Or is this more suitable for dramatic tenors? For me personally, allowing the larynx to naturally raise for high notes is the way that I can actually sing in my upper range without going out of gas if you know what I mean. Great video though
@lemandoeslogic2261 Жыл бұрын
Well to be honest I couldn’t sing with that chest power up to A4-C5 a year ago I had to be thin in masky to go into mix in that area but I strengthened my chest much more. Yes this is tiring if your voice isn’t trained for that stamina but it absolutely is sustainable when you build that strength. Just like the singer of Nothing But Thieves has that chesty power for 4 minutes he will be able to sing like that for a long time because he has very good technique. As long as you aren’t pushing and your voice has been trained for it, this belting is very sustainable.

@@lemandoeslogic2261 Can I ask as well - is it normal for chesty mix to be a bit more tiring than the medium mix and falsetto mix due to the thicker sound? I think after this video I found it and the sound is nice but I find I tire if I try to continuouslly remain in a chesty mix and my voice wants to break into head resonance ranges. Can you confirm if I'm on the right track or not in terms of feeling my voice out? And do you do coaching / lessons?
@lemandoeslogic22612 жыл бұрын
@@chilliboi9336 Well, there could a couple answers to that. You could be pushing or using more force than necessary which could be causing fatigue, however, when belting you have to use much more support and effort than in falsetto so yes it takes much more energy but you should still be able to do it over and over. It sounds like you are on the right track though. We also need to realize when our voice needs to thin out in relation to where we are at in our singing. Idk if I can change the way I learned to belt, because I’ve had always pushed my voice to the max and today if try to mix it sounds so pitchy and annoying. I’m a baritone and my highest note in full voice is C#5, sometimes I can exclaim a D5 but I don’t count it because I can’t sustain it, my usable lowest is F2. I wish I could belt up to C#5 without all the volume and sometimes rasp.
@lemandoeslogic22613 ай бұрын
@@henrykernodle yes this is where control really comes into place because I couldn’t have any chest resonance in that range for quite some time. If you really focus and train your mask and nasal resonance with control and without pushing then you can start to blend over time without pushing your voice. This is easier said than done, but much better for your voice and will not result in fatigue or pitchyness

i really wanna be able to sing high notes whenever i feel like i want to sing a song. sometimes i like songs of utaite Eve in which he sings like that. and sometimes i get to that range with myself too with an also full mixed voice but it's hard to hold it for a long time since i've had a small experience dealing with full support and so it dries out quickly. i am able to get into that full mixed voice because the rest of the time i spend singing in just that medium low volumed mix. i can sometimes get a clean sound if i sing kinda every day for at least 30 minutes like that but sometimes that low volumed medium mix can not give a sound, leaving me only with that high vocal fry. i'm trying to comfortably find a balance of the right amount of support and air passing through and how much i use that nasal cryness. anyway so my voice knows the feeling of how to get into mix but only to some extent because first my medium mix is clean not all the time and second, my mix with the full support dries out in like 1-2 minutes this explanation is beautiful btw, i'm going to experiment some more. i love watching these videos because they can also keep me moving in that direction developing the voice i'd kinda wanna have. your voice is so cool btw because even your usual speech has that saturated texture i know a guy his name is chipz (stealthrg), and his voice also developed that feature. he can also hit high notes very very well. i uploaded his singing on my channel this is so great to hear an advice from someone like you, from someone who definitely has that what i'm searching for for me, this is basically a vocal breakdown of the voice of that japanese singer Eve that i listen to even though i don't really listen to similar vibes of sings that Eve and his team makes, i'm still developing this voice sometimes. thanks sssssssssssssso much for that

@lemandoeslogic2261 17:52 can a person always sing like this? by the way, what head voice excercise would be crucial to have this mixed voice? once i achieved this type of voice for like 5 seconds and got a recording of it but now i don't know how to get it and i'm back to the beginning when i was starting singing because i kinda gave up on it even though i really want it. my voice is always so vocal-fry-ish yet can be sso airy, so my voice rarely sounds smooth, even with a low volumed medium mixed voice. or even with falsetto, i just can't blend from chest to head voice smoothly anymore. that's why i think it's a problem with my head voice and want to find some excersizes to strengthen it for singing in full mixed voice. it's what i always desired since i've started trying to descover and train my voice 2 years ago

To get to Eb 5 in mix we definitely have to thin out the tone and lean more into the mask. To answer your question I think it can send good in multiple voicings it just depends on the context and how it’s execute. If this is for a rock song this range of notes can sound good I’d mix especially with a little vocal fry. I’d say for most other genres falsetto or a blended falsetto starts getting nicer sounding up there.

This leaves me more confused. I’m hitting these notes, but no matter what, It’s still thin and head-y. I’m a bass, so I know this is already going to be difficult, but i like i said i’m hitting the notes. I can preface it with a low larynx position, but it still comes out feeling weak and sounding thin. it seems as though i’ve run out of options; been work 6 months with not a shred of progress. I don’t even want the crazy 5th octave stuff. Even though I can make that happen, i just want a completed 4th octave. No matter what I cap out a F4 and from there it’s tragic. What can i do?? 😭
@lemandoeslogic22617 ай бұрын
I was in the same boat as you for quite awhile I could maybe get to F# and was flat or pushing way too much above that. It's hard to diagnose exactly what's going on or what is weak simply over text but when I was having this issue I needed to first strengthen my falsetto to be very strong and resonant with ease to at least F5 and also make it pretty resonant and strong all the way to to around C4. After this is when I began trying to add Mask resonance almost overly nasal to be able to resonant well in this part of my voice in time. After enough practice being as relaxed as possible you should be able to slowly mix these resonances. I would suggest watching my medium mix video and my strengthening the falsetto video and see how you feel singing those. The full mix is the most advanced part of the mix; to be able to belt with power...it takes a lot of time. I do also offer private lessons or would be happy to watch an example of your singing.
