I got hired yesterday and I am extremely excited! My courses are actually paid for, along with my CPR and first aid certification. I met some of the kiddos, and man.... im so excited. Its the field I am planning to farther my education for, it has been something I have wanted to do since I was in daycare myself haha. I have so many ideas! I have not been this excited and confident in my entire life. Ive always been able to form a special connection with kids, especially one whom have autisum and disablities. I have extremely high patience, and have loads of personal expierence dealing with both well behaved and not so well behaved kids. I feel even more confident and secure knowing I'll be able to go through the courses. Just even more education of the ive been striving for!!! Another plus I wasn't expecting is im actually getting very good pay for my area. People have always told me the pay would be awful, something I easily accpted. But hey, in my location it isnt.

I’m interested in starting this journey on taking care of kids. I have a specific age range though. How did you get your courses and CPR/first aid paid for? FAFSA?

I am trying to get certified in this field of work because im a SAHM and before I started having children I was working 2 jobs and managing 1 of them. I'm going crazy just staying at home and thought I might look into working with children because I have 2 already. This would be great for me because I can bring them to work with me because I don't live next to anyone I trust with my babies and I need to get out of the house and make extra income.

That would be a great solution for you and your children! Most daycares will give you a discounted rate for childcare and some (typically an individually owned center) will let an employee’s children attend for free. This happened for my sister but they paid her a little less and didn’t give her raises to compensate. It’s nice to have your children close by when you’re working🥰

I’m so glad you liked this video and that you’re considering joining the childcare field! The kiddos would be lucky to have a teacher like you that loves them 😊 If you have any questions, I’m happy to help!

Are you paid for those tests and certifications because my sister and grandmas daycare employers aren't paying them for that and they're making them come in without pay to take these classes and course's outside of their normal scheduled hours

Unfortunately the daycare does not pay you to take the tests or certifications. When I did mine I had to arrange it on my own, pay for the courses (through DCF), schedule and pay for the tests, and then take the tests all on my own time. I was not reimbursed for any of it. Some daycares will reimburse you for your CDA which is an additional certification so you can be a "Teacher" or "Lead Teacher". If they reimburse you, you are typically required to stay employed there for 2-3 years, if not you will have to pay them back. This certification is in addition to the 45 hours (basic requirement to work in a daycare). I hope that helped. If you have any questions just let me know 😊❤️

In my state it's 18 to work in a daycare. I did a bit of looking though and unfortunately it seems to be the same for Ohio 😔 You can always try babysitting to gain experience to put on a resume for when you turn 18. Daycares still like to hear about that. Care.com also requires you to be 18 😔
