THANK YOU! It worked, and I found something else out, too: If the Pokémon which you turn into Celebi is already shiny, then the Celebi will automatically be shiny, too! I used the shiny Gyarados found in the Lake of Rage (I cloned it beforehand), and the Celebi came out shiny without even needing to do the second part of the video! Thanks for the guide!

For Everyone who the glitch doesnt work... This is what i used for mine and what is the problem and you should fix it. 1 = Make sure all boxes are renamed correctly (happend to me aswell ;-;) 2 = Check the quagsire to be all right with Return as 1 move 3 = If the low level pokemon does not work then here is a trick I tried out with all level 2-3-4 pokemon but none worked because it had to have id number 16 So catch yourself a pidgey and your ready to go!

Glitches and exploits are all the same. If you use the date skip exploit in S/S I feel like this shouldn't bother you much. Although this is a step further it's still just glitches. Glitches are still a form of Cheating.... may not be as bad as using a cheating device and heck, some are fun to play around with.... but to claim that it's completely okay is not right. that's like playing a game where someone can use a glitch to be invincible and mow down everyone else or cause a total stalemate if a player on the other team does it too... x.x

Big Z Pokémon obtained by manipulating the game is not considered legit. You can't obtain those Pokémon during "normal" gameplay and these Pokémon were never intended to be able to obtain. I have nothing against glitching tho. I do it too it's fun.

I’m thinking y’all fucked up. I did it right the first time and yeah it was slow and glitchy until I saved and reset but then it was fine, but when I tried to make it shiny, Quagsire wasnt holding the Headbutt TM and all hell broke loose. I fixed that, tried again and it worked like a charm.

This still works 5 years later. I was looking around for what games would be useful to buy before the eShop closed on March 27th and saw this video. I bought silver and was able to move my shiny celebi all the way up to swsh. The screen after the coin glitch was different for me but as long as you save and restart the game it works. I'm going to play the game all the way to Ho-Oh and make all of those legendaries shiny. Thanks!

@@hedgeyplays just the slide Pokémon in slot 3. It took me a couple of tries to get one that worked. If your game restarts and you see a rainbow screen, it means your slide Pokémon doesn’t have the right stats.

Also for any who are having trouble, I’d say the biggest thing to keep doing over is catching a new low level mon on Route 29. The values of the Pokémon really do make a difference of whether the game will crash and reset or if it will get you a Celebi. Just be patient and everything will fall into place. Good luck!

Today I learned that you can't have Bellsprout in your party while doing this unless Bellsprout is specifically the Pokémon that is being altered. It seems to confuse the game and screw up the glitch. I'm guessing it has to do with the use of Belsprout's cry within the glitch. At least I know this is the case for the shiny glitch but it wouldn't be a stretch to assume it is also the case for the Celebi glitch since they use the same cry in the routine.

When I was little, I had Pokemon soul silver. My one friend had gotten a used copy of heart gold that had a ton of hacked Pokemon on it. One of them was a shiny celebi that she gave to me. The Celebi glitch worked perfectly for me without a single problem! I didn't realize I had to get the normal Celebi first before turning it shiny so I also got a shiny Doduo out of it :P Only weird thing that happened to me was that I caught a lv. 28 Doduo for the Celebi sacrifice and oddly enough, when I did the step of dropping it in the Day Care and pick it up again, I didn't walk anywhere and Celebi, for some reason, grew 2 levels to lv. 30 with this step Still worked though so I'll take it ;)

6 years later and this just worked for me. I was discouraged at first when I got the rainbow screen or the white screen after opening the coin case. Swapping out the third Pokemon helped. Thank you so much!

After looking way too deep into this method I think it is safe to say there is only one way a shiny Celebi obtained this way could differ from a shiny Celebi obtained via the VC Crystal GS Ball encounter. VC Crystal Celebi receives the "fateful encounter" flag after being sent to the pokebank. It is unclear in this video if coin case Celebi also receives the fateful encounter flag. This video doesnt show the encounter information for shiny Celebi after it has been transferred to a gen 7 game. However it is very likely that any Celebi transferred from GSC receives the fateful encounter flag anyways. Original Comment - %100 wrong This is a really cool glitch. -BUT wouldnt this result in a shiny celebi with an invalid IV build? The GS ball celebi in the 2018 VC release is set to have 5 perfect IVs and its not shiny locked. You can just soft reset the GS ball celebi until its shiny for a "legit" version...- *edit* -Poke Transporter changes the IVs of any Celebi from GSC to have 5 perfect IV's. However Transported pokemon retain metadata identifying the game it was transferred from. Meaning if you Transport directly from Gold or Silver it will technically be an illegal encounter- *edit* Origin Game meta data can be VC Silver or Gold legally AFTER depositing into bank. @quartz12321 points out a legal Celebi from VC Crystal can be traded to Gold or Silver and transfere to PokeBank from there

you neglected to mention that the low level pokemon may not always work for a number of reasons, and thats a pretty big thing to skip considering other sites reporting on how to do the coin case gitch specifically mention that this "slide pokemon" has to have high DVs as well as low friendship... and that it can take upwards of 20 slides to get one that works. otherwise, though, this video seems pretty solid and im excited to try this come sunday!

Now I have the problem of I got to the point where your character is invisible and the menu is flickering and slow like in the video but when I check my first pokemon it's not a celebi. When I check my boxes a couple letters are gone and some have been replaced.

At this point, your Pokemon will still not be visible as Celebi - it's typing, name, nickname, moves, everything will make it seem like nothing changed, but if you take it to a battle (like wild battle), you'll be able to see the Celebi.

I did some digging to see if you could do more with this glitch and apparently, the guy who discovered this glitch also has a video on using it to get a mew, same exact method as to how you get the Celebi. What makes it even more interesting is you can use the shiny box codes in the video to give yourself a shiny mew. He also has a video on changing the OT and trainer ID so that Pokémon transporter allows it into bank.

Aw yeah this glitch is amazing. I love that the second half basically turns any pokemon shiny. As someone who has a full-time job and no free time for hours of soft resetting, this is such a great way to bulk up my shiny collection. I still wouldn't find it fair to trade them, though; private collection only!

That happened to me and I verified that I missed one in the boxes, I put a "d" instead of a " 'd " and made my game weird colors. Another thing is the coin case, you need to be careful, if you click more times you should it glitches out and doesn't work (at least didn't for me). Once it appears "Holds 9.999...." you should not click and exit out. Idk if I'm 100% correct but try.

Pokémon obtained by abusing glitches is not a "legit" Pokémon, so I don't really see the point in doing this. Would rather get it the right way. It's way more rewarding as well. But great video. Everything was explained really well! Edit: Just to clarify things I am not against glitching. I do it in some games just for fun. This glitch I just wouldn't personally do. To me the point in shinies is the rareness and value of them so I don't *personally* see the point in doing this. Ya'll can do whatever you want!

Smasher39 It's the value in the shiny. And it's a really nice feeling when after hours of "work" you finally get the shiny. Your question leads me to the next one. What's the point of obtaining a non legit shiny Pokémon using glitches when all you get is a different colour Pokémon. Well actually just a piece of data. Understand that in most cases shiny hunters don't hunt for the colour of the Pokémon but rather for the rareness and value of it. Well everyone do them.

People should ask this question. If abusing glitches is just as bad as modifying a game, why does AGDQ not allow modifications, but allows any sort of glitches no matter how broken they get? People should also ask, if Pokemon doesn't want us abusing glitches, why did they leave them in the game?

blaze6626 Exactly! It’s not like GF didn’t know that all these glitches exist either. They could’ve easily patched the coin case, similar to how they added code for an event to get the GS ball in Crystal, but they didn’t. They left this crazy stuff intact. As long as the Pokémon isn’t broken and doesn’t have a clearly hacked move set, what difference does it make? You have to work to get these glitches to work just as much as you have to work to get a shiny in a chain. At the end of the day, they’re both the same thing, one was just obtained in a much cooler way.

Fun Fact: If you do the Celebi glitch on a Shiny Gyarados, its shininess carries over, so you don't need to do the glitch to turn it shiny as it already has killed two birds with one stone! However, you can still use the shiny glitch if you wanna get shiny versions of the other Johto Legendaries. Man, Ho-Oh and Lugia look so good...

That is because there are multiple variations of the Coin Case glitch. The more popular one required PC items, which has a few people confused. I can assure you this method does not require PC items.

The reason the color pallet changes is because of your low level pokemon, you need a different one that has different stats to work

A more simple method is to use the Lake Of Rage Shiny Gyarados as the pokémon to transform into Celebi so that when you transform it, it will be shiny right away instead of doing the shiny pc box thing.

After many tries with a crashing game and all, it finally worked! Thanks a lot! For everyone else who may does have a problem to perform this glitch, try to use a level 6 female Hoppip for the low level Pokémon's spot. It worked instantly for me, after many Hoothoot and Rattata which only caused crashing. Also make sure to save right after the coin case shows you your coins and then restart to get rid of a bugging menu and invisible player character.
