Adeola met with Mr Chukwuemeka Owunka, the CEO of Last Solution Services (an employment agency), to find out how he helps Nigerians find jobs, what employers are looking for...
She also hit the streets of Lagos to find from Nigerians whether they have jobs, how they are coping in the current economic climate...
"Unemployment is a serious thing in Nigeria. I think it has increased to 75%," one man says.
"...getting employment will be very difficult because there's no job," another man says.
Have you had difficulty finding a job?

It has long been known that the Nigerian government from all levels is not ready to create jobs for the Nigerian youths. It is time these youths take matters into their hands. Be creative and think critically. Nigeria is young with countless opportunities. You can start a business with as little as #10,000. Focus on growing the business rather than making big profits at the beginning. You may have to learn a trade even if you are already a graduate. This might be difficult but your destiny is in your hands and you can change your life for better. Just in case you don't know, the president, senators, ministers and even the governors of your states do not care if you survive or not.

Even when there are jobs, employers pay so little and don't care about the high cost of living, especially transportation to the workplace, and lunch.

This is so sad to hear. The Nigerians who come to America make it seem like everything is GREAT in Nigeria but when I watch these videos, you get a REAL look at what's going on in the country without the BS. Thanks BattaBox

No you got it wrong, there are lots and lots of job to do in NIGERIA, depending on you area of interest, the truth remains that people are looking for the highest paying jobs with little or no effort which is always in the minor for all countries, if you doubt me How come all the foreigners who come into Nigeria gets employed or have something to do but Nigerians complain of no job, the young man who said 75% are unemployed, how did he came by that statistic, it means the entire country is unemployed which is not so,. However unemployment is a general thing the world over including the USA,.

Foreigners who work in Nigeria usually have jobs waiting for them as most of them work for international companies or have the capital to start their own business . The jobs you mention are small compared to the Nigerian labor market. Though yes Nigeria inst the only country suffering unemployment their government and environment works to reduce unemployment which cant be said for the Nigerian Government . Our target should be Job creation , most self owned business are small scale with 2-100 employees while large corporations employ thousands , what we need is funding to encourage entrepreneurship so those small businesses can grow into larger companies

THE SMALL CAP MILLIONAIRE The people that complain about the lack of jobs in Lagos are not Lagosians. Lagosians don't complain when it comes to a job. I'm Lagosian I'm telling you the fact. Lagos is too over populated by foreigners. There are more than 5 million illegal foreign workers in Lagos. so, do you get that? And most of the people that suffer it are the people that come from other states in Nigeria, so those are the people you see here complaining...

If 70 percent of your people are unemployable that is a state problem, not just an individual problem. Why are these institutions graduating people who are not prepared for the workforce?

So let me get this straight: you IMPOSE a COST on JOB SEEKERS (who are already struggling financially) to obtain a MERE application for employment? This "recruiter" fixed his mouth to say that "it is not everybody that is looking for job"....Since when in Nigeria do people go an apply for job when they are not looking for job? What foolishness is that that is coming out of his mouth? And then he later says that many Nigerians are not employable....so he himself does not even have faith in the people that he's robbing, which is not surprising anyway, because his only goal is to scam people out of their money. Classic fraudster, if you ask me. Nigeria never ceases to amaze me man. Good grief!

Nigeria government should start buiding factories so people wont rely on offices alone.Making the streets clean, tying of roads, mechanized farming will help a lot . The white people you see today they don't rely on office work .

Let’s be realistic about the job creation; Government is not a job creation entity to its citizens. However, it can facilitate employment opportunity to its people by engaging with private sectors find a venue of job creation. A government cannot provide individual student graduates in every sector of skills or course taken at school when complete his or her studies. Nigerians should be thinking of going to machinery, draft, craft, carpentry, entrepreneur, self-employ, and other skills out there. Don’t wait for bank or administrative job that’s not coming back again because of technology automation process that eliminating manual labor jobs.

That the people you know have land doesn't mean that most Nigerians have land. How out of touch are you with reality? Even some villages and traditions where they give land to family members doesn't mean it's a large enough portion. I guess they should manage and farm on the small piece like that. And most of those jobless/area boys/touts/unemployed graduates are all landowners. Smh! Wake up!
