I was told by a recruiter to apply to even those jobs. If you can do 75% of what is being asked in day to day operations section, then apply. They can hire on your willingness to learn. Women especially need to practice this cause we tend to not want to apply unless we met 90% of the criteria.

Yes! I’ve noticed how much I doubt myself, it maybe because I’m a woman, or a just a self doubting person, but I don’t even believe in what I want to say is my true worth. I want to practice on this so when I’m an adult I don’t suffer from it. The best way I have found right now is to stop thinking and to push through! Not sure? Do it anyway!

Yes! I think I'm kind of a rare case but I think it's what helped me. I had a really bad first interview, nervous, going on tangents, but when it came time for the follow up email I acknowledged my lack of experience but I had a strong willingness to learn. I moved on to the second round, did not get it which is very lucky! I would have been CRUSHED in that role. But they ended up emailing me back with another role that just opened. Definitely a much better fit for my skill set. Definitely explain you're willing to learn!

Two more options: -Don't pay attention to the experience requirement and apply anyway (most places don't really care about it) -Lie. Come up with some "freelance" experience, you can ask some friend to lie for you and say they were ypur previous employer. Companies/recruiters that ask for stupid shit, don't deserve the respect of being listened or of telling them the truth. You do you.

I would love it if you could make a video about getting a job with no references. My cousin is just starting out after graduating last year and still can’t get any call backs. Also sometimes adults who left a toxic relationship have no references because everyone they knew would repeat the lies their ex tells just to hurt them and be in good with that ex. Myself and some of my family have been through this exact scenario
@vvonderweiss
@vvonderweiss Жыл бұрын
Is it possible for your cousin to start freelancing? Vivian has a post where she lists site for remote work and freelance. If you need references, sometimes just completing a few tasks for another is enough to put on a resume if that person can be a reference. Volunteer work also can help provide references. To be honest, it's hard to get callbacks unless a place has a high turn over or is an agency. Agencies aren't my fave but they WILL make sure you are employed within a month or less. Even if it's not a desirable job, 6 months of training and diligence can help boost a resume and create networks to find news jobs without an agency.
